Who is the worst player of all time that would be selected in every XI in history?

Victor Ian

I don't get how this works. Any player suggested can't improve the team that they came from so everyone is inelligable.

Haven't read all this thread, but Frank Woolley maybe?

A fifth bowler like that's a good bet because peak WI and Aus lacked that. Woolley makes near every other side in history as a bat alone, except maybe his own lol

Would Maurice Tate make WI 80s?

Eddie Barlow another option; averaged 75 in Australia and maybe slightly worse player than Woolley.

Some guy who is worse than Martyn generally but comfortably better than Martyn in Australia / bouncy pitches and would thus be picked over him even overseas could be an option.

Rhodes makes every team comfortably as either a spinning AR or opener - except Aus 00s, dammit

Tate might. Gives a strong tail with Dujon at 7, Tate at 8, and Marshall at 9.

Eddie Barlow couldn't make the Invincibles top 6.

Rhodes vs Mankad would be interesting

Bit of a stretch but Barlow adds more to this team perhaps than MOB Brown, Loxton, or Toshack.

Easy (but probably not correct) answer is some batsman averaging roughly ~47. I am gonna go with maybe Kevin Pietersen.
Or may be Frank Worrell because KP might not be able to break into Sobers + 3W combination that did play a few tests together iirc.

He never batted 6 at test level. Played 3 tests at 5 in 1970 bcos of Mr B Richards moving into opener.

Can't be a bowler, or a bowling AR without being a legit ATG. WI have pace locked up (I don't think sacrificing a chunk of bowling to bolster the batting a fraction in a 4 man attack works) and at least one of Aus (twice) and India have spin covered.

Answer has to be an (extremely good) ATVG bat, or a decent bat who adds enough with the ball to be worth axing a stronger bat for.
