My perception of Miller is he never had a professional attitude toward the game. He might have been the most naturally gifted cricketer (even more so than Sobers perhaps), but his not giving a **** about things would simply won’t fly in today’s professional environment imo.

Hard to take a game seriously when you've been getting fired at in an actual war

While it's fun to imagine how good Miller would have been if he tried his best all the time, you can't really make a comparison with a guy like Kallis pretending that was the case. You have to compare what they did, not what they could have done.

However if I were picking a team for a 1-off super match where the outcome would save the world, I would choose Miller without question.

I like how Miller set fields by telling his teammates to 'scatter'

Is this not just Imran vs Kallis v2? I don't know much about the semantics of Imran's career, but his and miller's stats look basically identical in test cricket.

Only on averages. Imran was a better bowler and Miller a better batsman.

Miller vs Kallis should be closer since Miller probably doesnt overtake Kallis' batting in either discipline but is much stronger in his second discipline. So its a more interesting battle about who offers more value to the side.

It would depend on the rest of the side. For instance, if it were Sri Lanka Miller would be their greatest ever seam bowler by a long way and really improve the balance of the side. However, as a Kiwi I'd consider Kallis more useful to our side (even if he didn't bowl).

Assuming it is an ATG side and you have a loose spot at no.6.

I don't know who adds more value to a side but Miller was the better all rounder. Better cricketer is close.
