oh so the only reason eng cheated their way to a chase below 400 is by changing the ball every ten overs

In seriousness, every fibre of conventional wisdom in me says they look good for a bit and then when 2 wickets go down the target seems miles away again. Chasing something like this you can't really be 'winning', you've just 'not lost yet'.

Oh, there 'tis
Yeah, so many times over the years teams have looked imperious chasing a huge target and 2/3 quick wickets and suddenly it's miles away.

That being said, as long as the wickets total reads 4 or less I will consider anything possible
