Not picking Maxwell gonna cost Aus 80+ runs with the bat alone. Exactly the kind of part time hack bowler that would be a nightmare to face on this pitch too.

Another failure for Smith after scoring lesser than all the pak batsmen in the previous series.

Should be dropped for the India tour if he fails again in the next innings.

Jadeja had a poor IPL, if he cannot perform vs england he should be dropped from the test team for the Australia series. Shans Mulani and Shabhaz ahmed> Jadeja.

Gob

International Coach
Good day for Aust but could have done without brain dead batting towards the end. This could easily turn in to 120 for 6 and eventually a lead for Sri Lanka

Kirkut

International Regular
Superb bowling from Australia when factoring in the dropped catches from Labu-skunk-nee. Steven Smith's reaction to his runout was iconic. Eager to see how this test goes.

Khawaja is like the finest bottle of wine dug out from deep in the cellar.
His returns since coming into the ashes series have been nothing short of phenominal.
It's hard to believe now that Marcus Harris was in favour of him less than a year ago.
Proof that players can turn their form around at a latter stage of their career, and that having your life in order off the field can translate to being
mentally strong and focused on the pitch.

Whatever it takes!!!
Khawaja continues to be class, I see.

Smith was very unlucky to be run out like this obviously. But very interesting approach with the bat from the Aussies. Gonna be fun to watch if they keep up this attitude.

I’m late to the party here, but Carey was pretty sloppy with the gloves. Looked to be frustrating Lyon a bit.

Inglis is a very good bat and by all accounts an accomplished keeper.

Looked pretty difficult for both keepers today

willing to give Carey a bit more rope considering he performed admirably in Pakistan

If Head makes it to 20 I'll quit my job to run a travelling Travis Head cheer squad. No danger though

Inglis can't play because he hurts feelings of sensitive boys like @Burgey

Inglis really has done **** all in the (albeit limited) chances he's had for Australia. Not convinced by his keeping skills either, let alone that his method would be anything other than that of a sitting duck in these anti-cricket conditions.

The real solution is to select noted spin-batting specialist Peter Handscomb to play as keeper. Or just bowl every ball on the stumps so you don't need a keeper

Yeah I don't think they really have a choice on this deck other than to be as positive as reasonably possible, but it's shaping up as a 3 to 3.5 day test atm for sure, whoever, wins.

I don't understand why the incumbents don't simply hit the opposition spinners back over their heads tbh.

Handscomb no longer considered for selection owing to his ridiculous haircut.

aren't all keepers part time. half the deliveries don't even make it to them. slackers imo
