Yeah I think it's a bit of this. In that period before we got good we'd often be in positions of strength and then just give it away via a horrendous collapse/Harbhajan Singh and the like scoring bollocks hundreds. Thus feels very similar, 240 ahead only 4 down and we've somehow lost

Can't bowl full, can't bowl short. Bowling back of a length an easy single...

That said England could have come out nervous and blocked everything to crawl but they figured there's nothing to worry about and hit through the line. The advantage of having someone of Root's experience in the middle.
