Talking of good all rounders who are bad, there’s an interesting debate to be had about what was less bad between Stokes’ batting and Vettori‘s bowling, and Stokes’ bowling and Vettori’s batting.

Give me both of their batting tbh

How the hell is Shakib in this (or any discussion)

guy is a weakling who goes running whenever his country needs him

Stokes is much more of a wildcard/mercurial dude who could/might win you a game from nowhere. Also arguably more of an all conditions type player.
Jadeja's far more consistent - and especially at home where he's a proper match winner.

It's a tough one - I'd pick Jadeja, personally, but as others have said, also depends on your team balance. If Jadeja could bowl medium pace or something we'd be set!

Yeah for mine Jadeja is obviously a better bowler than Stokes is a batsman and their secondary skills are roughly equivalent so I'm surprised by the poll results, but I do think you're a little bit harsh on Stokes' batting.

He averages 38 in the top 6 in a mostly tough era for batting,

In my heart of hearts I don’t get why Stokes earns comparisons with anyone of note, it just gets mixed up with daring to mention the fact that he is also literally Satan. Anyway that’s probably enough of this thread for me, Sir Jadeja vs that other vaguely humanoid guy isn’t a serious discussion and I only get to live one life and these seconds are ticking away.

Stokes is the better all-rounder but Jadeja is a better cricketer.

Stokes is capable of snapshot highs in both disciplines but even in the bowling friendly era we are in, bowling output is so valuable that a bowler who can take 4 wpm @ 23 or so and can be handy in the lower order is more valuable compared to someone who can be mercurially awesome in both disciplines.

Jadeja's batting average is greatly enhanced by having 20 'not outs' in 87 innings (23%). This comes from batting lower in the order. By contrast, Stokes has just 5 'not outs' in 146 knocks (3.4%) which is indicative of a player who goes for his shots when he is running out of partners.
Both fine all-rounders, but Stokes is a more valuable batsman.
No one is contesting that Stokes is the better batsman though Jadeja has a higher average due to not outs.

But Jadeja is a much better bowler than Stokes than Stokes is as a batsman compared to Jadeja.

Stokes is a little bit more than a part time bowler while Jadeja is an ATG spinner.
