How is this Wasim? McGrath took more wickets per innings, at a better Average and better Strike Rate and Economy Rate. Has more 5 wicket hauls. Counters wining 1 world cup and finalist in 1 other by winning 3 world cups and a finalist in 1. McGrath is easily the best ODI bowler. Wasim is just a comparative fart sniffer.
Fixed.

Its like Ganguly being 5th bowler in a normal 11.

Imagine Mcgrath playing 20 years for Pakistan..
without the support of great WK, extra ordinary fielders, score board pressure.. Also 5-6 years more than his actual career....
He would end up as a 30 avg bowler with 4.5 ER. With 1 or 2 4 wicket hauls. ( he already has a low 4 wickets ratio, and now he is competing with Waqar, Akthar, Saqlain, fielders.. Etc )

I deal with what is. I don't need to engage in wondering. That is for fart sniffers. If Wasim wanted good fielders he should have told his early world's most inspirational captain to inspire his lazy ass team mates to practice.

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Haha people have had this argument with Red at least 1000 times. He just thinks Symonds was one of the greatest bowlers of all time for some reason.
Not one of the greatest bowlers ever. One of the greatest 5th bowlers ever ??

Nah, it was fun for him dealing with all these hurdles and still performing better than everyone in the world.

But he didn't. I mean, in an alternate universe, maybe. But not this one. If you want a left handed ODI star, you should pick Starc. It's unfortunate, but true.
Look...Wasim is a nice guy, but he is not even top 3 ODI bowlers ever, no matter how you assess it.

Have to give it to Wasim here.. He would have succeeded even in current batter dominated era. Same can’t be said of others IMO.

McGrath and Murali would still get current batsmen without any difficulty.

I reckon McGrath would be more prone to getting carted around under current conditions. I have seen batsmen successfully attacking him in ODI and him completely going under the shell. I can think of at least 4-5 occasions where Tendy went after him in odi and he had to be taken off the attack. Batsmen under current rules are far better at power-hitting than they were during McGrath’s career.

Wasim on the other hand would be difficult to dominate. He was far more versatile. Basically superior version of Starc. I definitely see him doing better than Mcg.

Not gonna compare spinner and pace bowler.
