*Official* England in West Indies 2022

Leach has shown his full lack of variation. To have a spinner bowling 35 overs on a day three pitch with minimal help shows an appalling lack of faith in the seam attack.

Chris Woakes away from home average check - 55.6

Gap between Woakes average and the second worst of all time for a seamer from England away from home (min 10 games, 20 wickets) - 13 runs

said seamer is Sam Curran

Chris Woakes selection status - leader of the England bowling attack

I'm amazed that Jermaine Blackwood has played so many tests with a sub-30 average given that many of his dismissals seem so hapless.
Have you seen his competition?

Basically, he had a horror run from 2018 to 2020. That took his average from high 30's to low 30's. Hopefully he is through that now and bringing it slowly back up.
You'd hope so, he could be so much more. Not to be controversial, but that man needed to have a look at his technique about half a decade ago. In a normal universe he'd be at the Karunaratne and Elgar tier of openers. His temperament as a batsman has done him wonders though.

Yep, fully agree. He seems to be back on it now and using less top hand. Hopefully he'll get his average back up there now.

Just seen a stat that Kraigg has scored the last 10 centuries by a West Indies opener ?.

My goodness.

It's even scarier once you factor in that he only has ten centuries in his whole career. That means no other WI opener has scored a ton almost ten years.
That is unreal! Yes batting against the new ball in the Caribbean (apart from this series) is hard but that is crazy.

Again, I say let's try something different. Let's get Evin Lewis in.

I would rather Rajendra Chandrika over Zak "I can literally sense tons" Crawley on any day.

Also thought that wasn't Roots finest captaincy effort. Strange treatment of Mahmood and reluctance to bowl Lawrence even though he's looked quite threatening at times.
