I can only assume those voting for Jadeja are continuing "the answer is Jadeja" joke which infests many threads.

To put the joke into perspective, only 12 players have a top rating of 900 or more on the ICC ODI all time batting rankings.

Jadeja? A distant 83rd on the current rankings with a rating not even half of the 900 mark.
You're trying to rationalise the phenomenon that is Jadeja. That is why you will never understand it. Just accept it, and life will be better.

True. But none of Shewag, Jayasuriya or Gilchrist would have average as Viv. Bevan or Dhoni with Average. Jaya or Shewag with SR. That's why the fellow is special.

De Silva 18, Ranatunga 18, Afridi 16, Aaqib Javed 17, Javed Miandad 17 are some examples. I am sure there are many more examples.
Sachin did ( as an opener )
Viv average - Jayasuriya SR

Thats not many, and unlike Sachin most of them were in late teens when debuted.

Its not the stats .. its the impact that makes him so special.
He is impacting every thread and polls.

WRONG. He has clearly impacted this forum.
Yeah when I joined CW, I was confused why Jadeja was being rated so highly. After spending more time on this forum and going back and watching his highlights and realizing how good he actually is, I had no choice but to add him as one of the options for both polls(clearly I was right to do since he got the second most votes). I am extremely grateful for how CW has opened my eyes.

Sachin, obviously. Viv is great but Sachin has 3 times as many runs, 4 times as many 100s, first ever ODI 200...

Filters, filters.

Richards at 3 and 4 52.2 @ 91. So Sachin did not (48.3 @ 88).
Sachin was a teenager and batted in an unsuitable position before his opening days.
Viv debuted at his prime and played in his natural position.
Comparing whole career is injustice to Sachin.

You add the top ODI ratings of Ajay and Ravindra and make it Ajayendra, you get a peak of well over 900.

It should be either "Who is the greatest ODI batsman of all time?" with a single option or "Who are the greatest ODI batsmen of all time?" with multiple options to choose. Can someone correct it please? It is killing me.

This isn't a great argument. India spammed ODIs in the late 90s.
so why doesn't any other Indian batsman have 18,000 ODI runs and 49 hundreds?

If you just take Indian batters during the duration of Sachin's ODI career his numbers still stick out - Ganguly has 7K less runs at 41, Dravid 8K less at 39, and no one else cross 8K.

Open it to all teams and only Kallis has a higher average of batters with 8K+ runs, and Sachin is still ahead of him by 7K runs and has 32 more 100s. You then have to go all the way down to Michael Clarke with with 7K runs to find someone with a higher average, and Tendulkar has literally scored 7 times as many 100s as he did.

The sheer volume of work is just mind boggling. Plus the only other batter of Sachin's era to have an ODI 200 was Sehwag, who did it after Sachin and against a significantly weaker attack. I suppose you could consider Rohit Sharma to be of Sachin's era, but that's only because Sachin's career spanned across 5 ****ing decades.

This really isn't a debate. Viv may be the better ODI batsman, but Sachin is obviously the greater one.

Viv and Sachin are the obvious top two greatest batsmen ever in ODIs. It is very difficult to separate and choose one of them since the parameters are completely different.

Both - Great average at great strike rate, can play hard as well as long, good WC record, aura

Sachin - Longevity, consistency, holder of umpteen records, 1-time WC winner
Viv- Far greater than his peers, held most of the ODI records when he retired, 2-time WC winner
