I'm not sure what you mean by released for international cricket, he had played for Netherlands before.

Super surprised to see Rippon in dutch squad. Forgotten how it works but I thought you can only play for one nation unless you're born in New Zealand.

Rippon is a South African that has dutch passport. I know the ICC weren't happy when he was picked for NZ A a season or two ago at they thought he didn't qualify as yet.

Curious to find out if he can play for associate side as well as major test playing nation post qualification.

He'll have to pick one.

Glad he's still rocking up for the Netherlands tho. Also glad this series is going ahead!

Yeah he's not been playing for the Netherlands because he's been trying to qualify for New Zealand, as I understand. So not sure he can play for NZ any more if he turns up in this series.

Bugger.. Why would he chose Netherlands? I thought he had a chance to play for black caps if he keeps performing like he is for otago.

NZ squads announced. No bolters. Michael Bracewell in both T20I and ODI squads, so no Ravindra. Doug Bracewell gets the ex-Neesham spot, so no Nathan Smith. Tickner gets ODI 3rd seamer spot. Cleaver in T20I squad, makes sense as he has been batting at the top of the order, Fletcher lower down, and the spare batting spot is at the top.

Hopefully Mark Chapman gets some game time (they could pick a different 2 of Nicholls + Young + Chapman for each ODI?), he was 12th man for lots of games last season.

Can't really fault the squad but I think we're missing selecting squads for future a bit. What's the point in naming players for only for one T20?

A lone spinner in the squad when we'll need like 2-3 over in India for the world cup. I think this will come back and bite us bad in future.

Don't know but are we expecting Guptill, Doug and CDG all available for the world cup in India end of next year? CDG though is in the form of his life.

Whatever happened to Duffy, moved on from him?

No Ajaz still? Not even good enough to be a 3rd spinner behind Santner and Ish?

Yeah I'd like more spin bowling options. It would be funny if Rippon takes lots of wickets in the series for the Dutch.
