*Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

Seems like they could have just kept producing pitches like those. Feels like they specifically wanted to blunt Australia, perhaps due to lack of confidence in their side being able to win a game if the pitch offered a result.
Lack of confidence justified

Goes without saying that Warne had a massive influence upon cricket but one area where I believe that it’s been a bit questionable is in the runups of bowlers like Swepson

Warne was not only a physical freak with massively strong shoulders & fingers but he also had just about a technically perfect action

He didn’t need to get much out of his runup

Swepson has neither of those attributes so arguably does
While I haven't watched Swepson for long enough to form an opinion on how he'll go (he seems to bowl pretty quick and flat, which is interesting) you're not wrong generally.

I see it all the time in grade, kids who just amble in either bowl too slowly or who don't have control over length. And the ones who don't have either fault will bust their shoulders given enough time. Unfortunately there are very few capable bowling coaches to fix this. Legspinners need momentum in the crease.

geez imagine waiting for a shot to bat on the flattest decks in the world for 2 Tests and then getting a ball like that first up

With that weird ass technique too

lol Pakistan

Ouch.

Admittedly Babar and Rizwan are both guns.....but this is nasty. Perfect toss to win too with the reverse.

torn between wanting Babar/Rizawn to ton up to keep this game interesting vs Pakistan lollapsing for a 300+ run deficit.

He has the hand-eye right now to make it work but yeah, longer term could catch up to him.

On another note, I mentioned elsewhere that I feel Babar is the truest throwback to the 90s of batting when it looked like Sachin or Lara could literally play a shot to any ball and actually be in position to play it irrespective of the pace, bounce, movement or turn on the ball. I know the fab 4 have accomplished more, esp. Smith, but Babar seems the closest to the "great" batsmen at least from an eye test perspective.
It reminds me of Joe Root. Sort of method which works on slower decks but may struggle on the faster ones
