Lack of confidence justifiedSeems like they could have just kept producing pitches like those. Feels like they specifically wanted to blunt Australia, perhaps due to lack of confidence in their side being able to win a game if the pitch offered a result.
While I haven't watched Swepson for long enough to form an opinion on how he'll go (he seems to bowl pretty quick and flat, which is interesting) you're not wrong generally.Goes without saying that Warne had a massive influence upon cricket but one area where I believe that it’s been a bit questionable is in the runups of bowlers like Swepson
Warne was not only a physical freak with massively strong shoulders & fingers but he also had just about a technically perfect action
He didn’t need to get much out of his runup
Swepson has neither of those attributes so arguably does
Starc will take up the Nuremburg defence againStarc's got some h00p going
check the lads for sandpaper
It reminds me of Joe Root. Sort of method which works on slower decks but may struggle on the faster onesHe has the hand-eye right now to make it work but yeah, longer term could catch up to him.
On another note, I mentioned elsewhere that I feel Babar is the truest throwback to the 90s of batting when it looked like Sachin or Lara could literally play a shot to any ball and actually be in position to play it irrespective of the pace, bounce, movement or turn on the ball. I know the fab 4 have accomplished more, esp. Smith, but Babar seems the closest to the "great" batsmen at least from an eye test perspective.
that's the word that came to mind watching him bowl that overAlso low key Green might be the most gun fielder in this side now with all the geriatrics we have in it.
Memories of Umar Gul in that Lords legends match. That was easily the most limp bowling i've seen in my life.that's the word that came to mind watching him bowl that over
