He drops it very early and it doesn't go across at all like many finger spinners' will. It's certainly an odd action, it's all in the swing of his arm. Doesn't use his body at all. Compare it to Lyon's at about the same point.

Not sure 2 for under 100 counts as a solid platform. Those sorts of situations came when Australia were like 2/300 or something.

I think getting away from Australia is good for Smith, current Aussie conditions don't seem to suit his current game. That said he's still only on 24 - he's often gotten decent starts but hasn't converted them.
