Erwee doesn't look a world beater, but he's clearly an experienced guy who knows his game and can do a job, like Stephen Cook did for a while.

Cook had a much stronger domestic record though.

He might be nearing the end of his test career but has done his job so far in this series. Attacking runs and defensive bowling (to allow the 4 specialist quicks to rotate with shorter spells) is what he is picked for. 45 (42) and 8-3-16-0 is fine.

Haven't caught much of today's play, but this graphic that not one of Jamieson's deliveries to the left hander would've hit the stumps is damning. Jamieson's success in test cricket to date has in large part been, despite his height, due to bowling a length that does hit the stumps.
