Tbf the only reason you couldn't say that about Verity was because of Bradman. He played in the same years as O'Reilly, took just as many wickets, and averaged only slightly higher, and that is despite bowling against Bradman. Deserves to be spoken of at the same level as O'Reilly surely.

The batters around Bradman weren't slouches either - guys like McCadeb, Woodfull, Ponsford, Brown and Morris all averaged 45+ during his career.
Morris debuted after the war but yeah Verity (and Laker too) are definitely the same level.

Morris was post-Verity; Brown, Ponsford, and Woodfull weren't in their pomp I don't think. And Verity was very much a short career beneficiary (though tbf only a bit shorter than O'Reilly).

I rate Verity highly also, but a tier below the top 4.

Grimmett

i should really make some multis so Grimmett gets this one. we still might have a Laker/Verity split which Grum wins tho

Going to stick to Lance Gibbs here. Struggled a bit in NZ and Aus, but that's where finger spin goes to die. He has good longevity (first spinner to 300 test wickets), 5-fers in four countries, and averaged below 30 both home and away. Lots of glowing reviews about his bowling, his Economy rate a testament to his control

Grimmett and can we also get the list of all- rounders and slip catchers?
Yeah I was planning on eventually doing all rounders and captains. Fielding is a nice idea as well. I'm not sure if I should have more than 3 going at once though or just wait till one or two are over before starting the next ones so the forum isn't just filled with these ranking threads. That's up to y'all.
