What happened with that land deal anyway
Correct. Lord is good for tests and Chahar is a better pick for white ball cricket with his effective new ball bowling.Yep Indian bowling looks penetrative after quite a while. Only one trundler should be allowed who can bat. Dravid is finally doing some good things with our pace attack as far as ODIs are concerned. I prefer Chahar over Lord as of now. Chahar definitely a gun bowler with new ball. His batting is more or less Shardul level in LOIs.
Playing Jaddu and Washy where Raina and Dhoni used to play. Train wreck of a team IMORohit

will work for the 2023 WC IMO.
It's not just about ER. Chahar is clearly a good new ball bowler but still WIP for death overs. Shardul is pretty erratic in white ball cricket and I hope he fine tunes his bowling. But atm I don't know how it makes sense to have 2 seamers who are limited. We can have 3 seamers but 2 of them should be good at death bowling. Bumrah + Prasidh/Siraj/Avesh + Lord/Chahar looks decent IMO. If batting is getting thin, we can play Axar instead of a leggie(Axar/Jaddu/Washi seems like a strong spin-bowling trio).ER means nothing without context. Bumrah averages 100+ in ODIs since 2020. Lets drop him too. Its very simple. The days of playing LO cricket with more than 1 guy who can't bat or field are gone. At worst, if we have good enough specialists, you can afford to carry 2. Carrying all of Chahal, Siraj/Prasidh and Bumrah is gonna bite us in the ass, esp. since two of them have not exactly taken wickets more than a Chahar or a Lord anyways. Given the WC is in India, we have to maximize our strengths. That means playing Lord and Chahar together.
On one hand you say this and on other, you are comfortable playing non-batsmen at #6 and #7. I don't get itThe days of playing LO cricket with more than 1 guy who can't bat or field are gone.
IMO credible doesn't cut. Biggest reason our ODI team is in doldrums is because our selection has been very indifferent about lower middle order batting. Playing a bunch of "all-rounders" at those spot as fillers rather than grooming genuine match winners like Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj. We have been carrying this problem for over half a decade now. Because we pick such lean lower middle order, too many batsmen up top start playing "anchor" roles.Jadeja and Washington are credible bats in their own rights. More so Jadeja especially.

I mean I dont know what you don't get here @ankitj . We are not going to find a player as good as MSD or even Kapil for the time being, so we don't play any #5 or #7 at all? The point is, you can only use the talent available to you. None of our batsmen can bowl which means you cant really have more than 5 of them in the side. Beyond that, we are just looking at who has the talent to make runs at this level. To me, anyone good enough to make a test 100 has enough batting potential to crack ODI and even T20 batting given the right coaching, training and time. And that is what I have gone for.IMO credible doesn't cut. Biggest reason our ODI team is in doldrums is because our selection has been very indifferent about lower middle order batting. Sky, Rahul, Iyer, Pant will make a good #4 to #7. We have to back them up and give consistent roles to grow into specialists which our team management has not done. Yes, 5th bowling option among these guys is a problem. Pandya is the obvious answer if he is available. In his absence we have to rely on strictly one of Washington or Jadeja, but not both. Else we end up with too lean a lower middle order and too much "anchoring" on top as a result.I mean I dont know what you don't get here @ankitj . Suck on that AmbroseWalsh has bowled well today
The problem is he randomly switches from batting very defensively to just hitting out.Walsh has bowled well today
Iyer doesn't have a 5th gear. Played well but ran out of steam at the end.
Strike rotation still a problem for this side.
You are saying we play 4 bowlers and 7 batsmen and hope Virat, Rohit can bowl 10?Sky, Rahul, Iyer, Pant will make a good #4 to #7.
