Mine was similar-ish, hence starting with Aravinda but I targeted a couple of great allrounders in Flintoff and Dev to give depth in batting and bowling so I could afford to leave a minnow keeper til the end since he only has to bat at 8, and use a minnow specialist bowler as my 5th bowler.
I have had some luck with getting Brandes who was the only 1986er that could make my strategy work and using my table identified a gun player that now no one else can pick so I am taking him in R11.
Yeah I wanted two all-rounders that could bat in the top 6. Ideally wanted Klusener and Flintoff but only managed to get one of them. First two picks was just get the best player possible without any strategy at all though.

Not picking Greg Chappell when I had the chance was a big error, had him in mind from the very start.

I started off with no plan at all and picked ABdV because he's awesome. Then I thought I'd better get a decent BAN and AFG pick in early. I started worrying about the quality of players I was picking and picked Lara as a result. It was then that I realized I needed to focus on some of the early era players because only certain countries qualified with passable options during that time and just made those picks because I had to. My team ended up alright - two more picks to go though.

Afghanistan is not even an essential minnow here. There's more Kenyans I'd have been interested in picking than Afghanis, though all the good ones debuted in 95-98 and I wasn't gonna turn down Saqlain

interesting that no kenyan has been picked yet, i would have assumed 2-3 would have been taken. maybe soon

@Bitmap and @Jfry have both done their England and Australian picks, so I'll do 2 picks here for an opener and a no 4.

I was very tempted to pick Graham Gooch and Damian Martyn, but instead decided to go with Matthew Hayden (90-94) and David Gower (76-80) instead.

Hayden was the best batsman for the tournament in the most dominant CWC winning side ever (2007 World Cup), while in the early 80s Gower was an absolute machine in ODIs rising to 4th in the historical peak rankings, so think my choice is the right one.

Re: tactics I saved picking Australian players til late as so many good players and I knew I'd still get a good one. I tried to make sure my players from minnow teams (Johnson, O'Brien, and the Fizz) were picked reasonably early (had them out of the way after 6 rounds) and were all good players - especially good if they did well in World Cups or against strong teams. I didn't want any weak players in the XI. Also I looked at players who were safe to save to pick late. For example a few rounds ago, I decided to save a bowling spot for NZ for 1999-03 for the end as lots of decent options which meant I ignored Sanga as a pick (as he is 1999-2003) so instead picked Pant as keeper and Ranatunga as Sri Lankan.

Harry Tector IRE 2018-2022 and as @Jfry has picked from 1971, I'll take Gordon Greenidge WI 1971-1975 as my second pick.

Yeah, I went for Sanath as soon as I realised SL were the one top 8 side who would run out of ATGs first. They have some of truly top tier players in Jayasuriya, Aravinda and Murali but fall into ATVG territory before both NZ and Pakistan do(and the SL ATGs are kinda condensed to the 80s and 90s). I was considering to leave Australia to near the end as it's essentially an auto ATG but combined with the time period restrictions it made 81-85 Dean Jones look very appealing
For this draft (top 13 from each country) I reckon Pakistan had probably the 3rd best pool of likely picks, maybe even challenging the windies in 2nd since they were spread out over a lot of periods.

The 80s definitely had less depth so good to grab an atg from then if given the chance.

Kenya peaked at the wrong time. Too many other good players in the 90s.

i haven't even looked at other people's teams in much depth but it sounds like you're nailed on for another win with that strategy. though i had a slight aversion to picking a minnow keeper, or a minnow in any "important" spot (spinner, opening batsmen - though Tamim obviously is an exception to that)
I guess I didn't have one strategy, just first picking the great players who will give me flexibility later, then filling whatever the most urgent need left is based on who was still available.

As with most drafts, I fly by the seat of my pants.
I still only have 9 players while others are completing their teams. Without an order and a recent selection update I'm hoping I can jump in with my 10th pick.
