That was terrible from Pant but not surprising at all, he was not going to knock it around. He comes down the wicket too often every time there's too much movement or uneven bounce.

Precisely the reason he has been a big failure in LoIs.. Can play occasional blinders but you can't count on him on a pitch offering something to bowlers. He bats like a slogger.

But what's the solution? He doesn't have the technique to just occupy the crease. If he goes after the bowlers and it comes off, the bowlers have to get a bit defensive(or change their lengths) and he can really build on that.
