long may you continue to do so
It has to come from within though and It's a collective thing.

It's like you realise someone or a team is bad or playing bad, so you have the natural urge to criticise (Thakur & Bangladesh)!! but then you kinda hope that it's an anti-jinx.

It happens often in life.
(Lots of people) and you praise someone a lot, and they fail the next moment. And when you feel someone is garbage, they prove you wrong, as nature is always playing a game with you and everyone.

Why does India keep losing to NZ for instance, because literally millions of ppl start thinking too highly of their team and start degrading/ridiculing the other team! As long as collectively millions of indians think Nz is **** and 'they are nothing like Australia' i.e. ordinary, the streak may continue because even the players subconsciously tend to do this, just like your average joe.

Indians got so ****y before the 2017 champions trophy final against pak. Remember what happened. Similar thing in this match. Almost everyone had written bangers off completely. So all this jinx/anti-jinx is a collective thing. Nature is the one playing the real game.

pretty satisfying seeing the kiwis get a reality check.
if you mean we eye rolled at the IBS trying to trivialise the sides achievements, nah. ignoring reality would be expecting (expecting, not hoping for a decent showing) to beat india in india or us to get over the australian mental block before 2050.

if you mean the team selection here, nah better to play the long term with KW's injury and Ferguson's reintroduction to FC regardless of the opposition. dropping ajaz from the squad has been shown to be a mistake tbf.

What are they mixing in the water in NZ

This is where I would ordinarily pontificate about the need to schedule a third test match because it would maintain the sense of jeopardy that NZ can still come back and win the series. Alas! This is no possible

I know NZ had looked at Ferguson in Tests before, is he just ignored now? Or does he also have problems with fitness for red ball cricket?
It's been a combination of a bad luck and a little bad management for Ferguson. There was a long period where he was playing and improving at FC level without breaking down (unlike every other genuine quick from NZ), had around 140 FC wickets averaging in the low-mid 20s iirc. Towards the end of that stretch around 2018 NZ selectors really should have found a way to get him into the test side, but they didn't. It's a settled bowling attack but should have been ahead of Matt Henry as injury cover, at least - genuine quick bowlers with good averages are incredibly rare in NZ.

Finally called into the test XI against Australia for the 19-20 tour and of course broke down - very unlucky given he'd been pretty fit to that point. Then Jamieson arrived and was exceptional and took that fourth seamer spot. The disappointing part is that between ODIs/T20s/IPL and a couple of injuries (including a back injury), Ferguson has not played a single FC match since that Perth test. He's now 30 and although I haven't seen anything publicised about it, getting the feeling he's not going to get another chance at test cricket - both because of fitness concerns and because as a first choice limited overs player he'll barely play a first class match.

Maybe he was just destined to get injured anyway, but can't help but think what might have been.

The plebs may dismiss the genius of this post but they just don't understand the cosmic and artistic nature of the jinx/anti-jinx

I think we're still a bit traumatised by bond tbh. need to heal and be prepared to love again.
