I guess that happens when you spend 200 overs in the dirt, that someone has to bowl the overs. Everyone else bowled 30+, Root and Stokes apart. My memory is of Archer not exactly racing in during that Test
Man had the beginnings of a stress fracture and was being made to bowl excruciatingly long spells.

I do agree though that there was a bit of cbfness about it all.

Yep, the template for Bangladesh should be NZ’s 2019 win over England, which transpired in alarmingly similar manner to the way this match has played out to date.
Yeah. They get a big lead, then scoreboard pressure is absolutely a thing.

There is a ridiculous amount of time. Trying to fancy play a target score is a sure fire way to get out. BD should aim to just stay in and bat in whatever way their batsmen are comfortable with no external pressure. The runs will come if they stay in.

Man I had forgotten Root's penchant for giving Archer 15+ over spells or some ridiculous **** like that. Just an insane way to use your marquee fast bowler.

Sheer fatigue will be an issue too, ca. the 2019-20 tour of Australia. Hard to bat if you're so tired you can barely stand.

Never made the breakthrough we needed and the class players of Bangers have stood up. Full credit to them.

We are definitely undercooked here.
Give me a break. You’re the inaugural test champions playing at home and they’re minnows

heh, I was about to criticise the umpire for taking the ‘Monimul is short’ meme to extremes given how high it hit and how far forward he was, but I guess the pitch is really dead cos that didn’t get up at all

BD owe me at least 450. I am too invested in this test now ffs.
This is how I follow all Bangladesh games. Check the scorecard every couple hours or so and only tune in if there's a chance of an upset.

They disappoint more often than not but it's an incredible ride.

Can’t help but feel that NZ have wasted an enormous amount of time and energy with the short ball stuff today. It’s never looked more likely to work than pitching it up with 3 slips and a gully

It goes away in a bit but the temporary disappointment after a BD collapse from a promising position is just crushing.

Exactly, despite batting for an eternity I’ve never seen Bangladesh really look comfortable and certainly not score runs off good, orthodox bowling. It’s like we’re playing the situation and not the batting.
