Its actually short square, as well. How about Queenstown? I figure it’s quite big, no reason it wouldn’t be in those wide open spaces?
Dont know why, probably built as a multi purpose.

Yeah I know but I didn’t think it looked visibly small watching that innings, he was just smashing themNah I think it’s quite small actually. Was the ground were Corey got his 30 ball ton and NZ wracked up 300 in 22 overs.
Yeah Mcg has much longer square boundaries. It’s diameter is about 170m, whereas Eden Park’s is about 135m.I thought it was a joke about the square as in the pitches, but I think he’s literally referring to the square boundaries. Not sure how close it actually is but Eden Park is reasonably long square…but then the MCG is also longer square than straight.
Yeah I recall an overlay where the mcg was clearly bigger but only marginally so square.I thought it was a joke about the square as in the pitches, but I think he’s literally referring to the square boundaries. Brisbane, WACA, and new Perth.Tbf to Eden park, those midwicket and extra-cover boundaries are bordering on above average. Just the straight boundaries that make playing there a bit of a joke at times.
It’s a bit odd that the Mcg has longer boundaries square than straight. Can’t really think of any other grounds that are oriented like that.
Yes and no. I don’t agree with minimising how good we are to that extent - no team is perfect and we still have various weaknesses in various conditions, but imo we won the WTC and got to world #1 because we were at least near enough to #1. I don’t believe there’s anything to ‘expose’, we’re just a flawed side like all sides.I feel weirdly ok about it. We had a dream run and a **** ton of luck for our all fast medium strat to net us a test championship, think it's healthy to have it exposed as a limited team comp to rely on
That's true, I was being slightly tongue in cheek (although I remember the Guardian OBO did describe our line up that way!). Note McCullum top scored in the first test - Taylor's first ton was on the first test of the return series in England. Can't agree about McCullum and Vettori being the best players. That was Fleming's last series (got his average over 40) and early Taylor who scored his 1st century in the first test and did well. Sidebottom destroyed us in that series though - 24 wickets in 3 tests which included a 7-fer and a hat trick
Too many do imo. It’s wrong. Aside from Eden Park and the MCG the Gabba also seems to be massive square and shortish straight. Always has a very MCG feel to it imo with the wide open spaces square. It’s a bit odd that the Mcg has longer boundaries square than straight. Can’t really think of any other grounds that are oriented like that.
Nah shud bat normally and see if they can get to 425. Strategic batting should only come in after that. They could still be 350 ao in these conditions.Bd should go a bit aggressive now and declare with a lead of 200-250 before lunch tomorrow. They can then push for an innings win.
