was about to be concerned jamieson is sitting at 125kph for some reason and he immediately sends one down at 135kph

still a bit puzzled tbh.

I don't really think Joy's an opener but he's a good find. Always looked great in U19 cricket but he doesn't look too phased by the better bowling here.

I do think he'll have some bad days against the ball swinging into him if they persist with him as an opener though.

This pitch is flat but not as slow as many NZ ones, a new-ball surface. Could yet ease to a real road, not sure. Bangladesh batting probably won't punish NZ for this low first innings score, but if they somehow can get through the first thirty overs only one or two down, there's no reason they shouldn't make it count.

Southee had one really good over otherwise it's been Wagshow.

That lbw really bothered me. As an umpire, you have to give that out and let the batsman review if he edged it.

Nah totally disagree. It was a terrible decision but umpires should never make decisions on the basis of "he can review it if I'm wrong". If he thought he hit it then he did the right thing.

Rigor picking Conway at #6 in his All time NZ top 6!

No one has picked Glenn Turner yet ! Might be a quirk of the Fleming era players.

Elliott with the most conventional top 6 I think. Rigor and Baz throwing out some fun picks.

McCullum - Fleming, Sutcliffe, Williamson, Crowe, Taylor, Cairns
Richardson - Latham, McCullum, Williamson, Crowe, Taylor, Conway
Elliott - Turner, Latham, Williamson, Crowe, Taylor, McCullum

Don't necessarily mind it. Conway is definitely in that Bond and Williamson class that just seems a level above the rest.

Bangladesh really knuckling down and playing tough test cricket here, something NZ didn't do.
can they keep their concentration and keep the battle going?

I couldn't resist selecting Jones, favourite cricketer to watch as a youngster at the Basin. And his record isn't bad at all considering our team at the time.
Fair dues. Sutcliffe, as you aware, played some domestic iconic innings and of course the most famous New Zealand inning of all time with his 80 NO in the Tangiwai match. The descriptions of his prolific sixes in the match are told by Fathers to sons and Grandfathers to Grandchildren across Aotearoa and always will be.

Are NZ making them work for it or is it mainly the conditions deciding the contest?
