Nah. The last decade of his commentary was basically one long uninterrupted whinge. Biased, crotchety and not particularly interesting. Glad he’s gone. I do love listening to Jeremy Coney whenever NZ tour England though.
LOL yeah guess he was a bit biased at times, but my mind goes back 30 years or even more.
before the internet was around, the only way to get results from overseas tours was on the news in the morning.
unless you listened to Brian during the night on tours such as West Indies, Pakistan, and of course England.
I missed a lot of school days because of staying up the whole night.
no doubt about Coney, may not be the most emotionally exciting commentator, but the guys cricket knowledge is second to none.
he describes the game in such detail, that I would go as far out as to call him the most SURGICAL of commentators.

Trying unsuccessfully to upload a pic I took of Taylor as he went out to bat. The crowd really got behind him. Gutted to now find out he apparently was out to a no-ball! Bangladesh probably deserved some luck after Young's nick behind in the 30's was missed by everyone.

Was driving earlier in the day and was again impressed by the commentary of John Bracewell. Really enjoys discussing nuts and bolts technical things the players are doing and tactics. Jacob Oram was a good addition to the radio commentary too.
I saw a photo, but that wasn't conclusive evidence. Foot could have slid.

Seemed there were issues with Chromecast and Spark Sport today as I was having similar issues to some others on here. Spark have at least acknowledged the problem and are working on a fix.
Have they? I haven't seen any communication around this. I signed up again yesterday, got a welcome back email but nothing to explain why I could watch **** all of the first day I signed up for.

I know this conversation has happened before (not with you, I'm shooting the messenger so it seems) but I hate the advent of streaming sport before our network is 100% capable of it. Ie I live in a pretty urban place, I don't have access to fibre, and it's also a Xmas hot spot where the network slows considerably at peak times in summer.

Imagine if Nathan Astle's 222 or some such occaion occurred on a day where Spark's connection was running dead...

Elbow injury that’s been niggling away for the last 18 month flared up before the India tour and he’s taking a couple of months off to try and manage it. Hopes to be back for the SA tests.
I'm no doctor, but presumably this is the same elbow that's been troubling him for a few years now so I'm very surprised there's no surgical procedure, especially considering it's come right and then flared up a couple of times now.

Apparently surgery is unlikely to help much.

I am using a Chromecast, so I am guessing that this is my problem. A bit pissed they still haven’t replied to my online query about it though. It made the game unwatchable by the end of play.

I really wish they’d get their act together in terms of developing Smart TV and games console apps. Sky’s had a Now app for PS4 for a couple of years, so you’d think Spark would’ve gotten onto it in advance of the 21/22 summer.

I do prefer the options available to you on Spark Sport though (i.e. the ability to go back and watch an entire session whenever you want - that was great for following the England series in the winter).

It’s a bit of a pain having to wait for Sky to broadcast a full replay if you missed some of the play (especially as Now only allows you to rewind up to 2 hours behind the broadcast).
When it is working, I prefer Spark too. It is cheaper for a start, and the app is easier to use. And yesterday was the first time I have had real issues with quality - unlike the Sky app which I find glitchy, prone to crashing and terrible for navigating backwards and forwards. I have yet to watch a non-live event on Sky without it crashing after an hour or so. And then I have to mutter and swear my way to try and get back to the point where the crash occurred.

Yeah, the Now app is terrible if you want to jump out and look something up on the internet. On my phone whenever you do that you get stuck with a rotating blue ring in the middle of the screen and you can’t pause or rewind until you completely shut down the app and reboot it. The 10s fast skip function on Now is also totally broken. Everytime I hit it, it just took me back to the point in the stream where I started watching. Spark’s app is definitely a lot more polished.

How do you not have fibre? Isn't it rolled out to basically everywhere now

I much prefer Spark too, they do have an app for Smart TV, nothing for console though yet I dont think?

The big issue I was having with Sky was Sky Sport Now and Sky Go operating at different frame rates. Makes no sense.

I haven’t seen any proof Taylor’s dismissal was a no-ball (the photo doing the rounds if anything suggests a legal delivery) but I sure have seen a lot of people running with that narrative
