Quinton de Kock has retired from test cricket

Very damp. But hey, SA isn't a well paying IPL franchise.

How many tests had Gilly played by 29? 10 or 12?

It’s always disappointing when a fairly big Test name walks away from the format, albeit all for understandable reasons, family, covid bubbles presumably, etc. To try and preserve the importance of Test cricket, if anyone still sees it as that, then more surely has to be done to keep these guys from walking away from red ball cricket.

I may be one of a dying breed, but while it will still be nice to have the opportunity of seeing him lace those shots through the offside to the boundary in white ball cricket, it won’t be anywhere near as significant as the roles he could’ve still played in Test cricket.

However, 3300 Test runs at just under 39 is still a very decent record for a keeper/bat that doesn’t play for a nation with nice boring flat batting decks.

Averages 6 more runs at home than away though . . . can't have been that bad

I mean the decks can't have been that spicy if he averages more at home than he does away
A lot of the decks in SA have a bit of something in it, they’re not like playing on absolutely run fests in the sub-continent for example.
