Umesh at 8 looks terrible
But there's an extra proper batsman in the lineup to make up for losing Ashwin and Thakur's batting. Umesh can bat a little too as he did in the Oval test.

No's 8-11 aren't as bad as they used to be. They can all contribute about 10 runs each on average. Whereas before, they could barely get 10 runs collectively.

You need to watch the match. Thakur has bowled several noballs and has looked awful. 4 overs 23 runs conceded. And his batting won't work on these extra bouncy pitches. He will get nicked off.

Ashwin is the other candidate who is failing miserably today, hopefully he proves us wrong.

Ever since Bumrah's injury and that dropped catch, everything has gone absolutely downhill.
seriously shut up

Hopefully we don't come to miss Jadeja for his all round work. He is definitely a far better batsman overseas (compared to Ash)

Ashwin's away innings' in recent times --

Decent for a No.8 but not good enough for Top 6 or Top 7 batsman
