2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Having watched more Test Cricket than most on this forum, this is by far one of the weakest sides ever to come to Australia. We had the halcyon days of Lillee/Thompson, Waugh's incredible sides and even Bradman's Invincincible but the POMS were always able to give us a run for our money. NOT this mob. Pommie fans/cricket lovers why has the wheels fallen offf this side?
a system that encourages green top pitches, seamers not having to bend their back to do anything of note and in turn Batsman constantly fighting for their lives and never learning how to build long innings.

the county system is shite and doesn't produce much of note.

You're not entirely wrong that it's a very different set of conditions but your individual points are all poor. Whether or not better Aussie teams have been beaten means nothing because they're not up against the same English teams. Any reduction in output from Smith could, and should, easily be balanced out by improvement by the rest. It's just as unlikely that the rest of Australia's batting would be as bad as they were in 2019 as it is that Smith will be as good. And Warner did nothing in 2019 and Aus were still the better team . . . replacing him with a sign post wouldn't hurt their chances in comparison with that.

You don't need to look back to 2001 lol. 2019 was literally just 2 years ago, the sides were nearly identical.
I mean, marnus is due a bad patch and looked pretty horrible last county season, Warner is a walking wicket In England, head made marnus and handscomb look competent last county season and greens lbw weakness is something that's way more exploitable in England. Don't think we're going to be massively improved from last time.

Really hope we find a way to get street a game this summer for the national team, he's class, reckon a county season would take his game to the next level.

Maybe it is one of their weakest.
Strange though given they have 2 of their best ever fast bowlers, one of their best ever batsman, and one of their best ever all rounders.

dunno what handscomb you were watching but he is probably the worst middle order bat I have ever seen in English conditions. I am surprised Middlesex haven't tried to jettison him
woeful player

because 2019 Ashes happened with nearly the same sides
no

starc rarely played, vegan ****ing siddle played more than he should have and pattinson turned up once or twice. haze didn't play all the tests. mitch ****ing marsh got a random fifer. next ashes bowling line up/lower order is settled if there are no injuries:

1.
2.
3. Labuschagne
4. Smith
5.
6. Green
7. Carey
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon

the issues that aus has to deal with are not really critical and they can plan the tour around a core of 8 players plus neser and richardson as backup

Yeah, if anything Aus should be significantly stronger. It's hard to see England being stronger without Anderson and Broad, or if they are there 4 years older.

and i think green's batting issues will be taken care of by australian cricket support staff. he's too ****ing talented to not figure a way out of his current issues in 18 months or whatever.

and maybe will pucovski will stop getting hit in the head and stay healthy enough to travel to eng and dominate hopefully

As much as this post will probably raise some eyebrows, think Dom Bess is really underrated and would have been valuable here. He's just got a spirit and character about him that I think might have thrived at some points during this series.

I'd add Travis at 5 tbh.

Don't get me wrong handscomb was horrible last season, head was just way worse then him.

yeah but root doesn't know how to use spinners as a captain and always makes his fast bowlers bowl until they gas out

eng would be a better team with a different captain i think
