Just reading up on him now after a many years, it's really surprising he got dropped so quickly his very first run in the side. Hit 400+ runs in his debut 3 match series, and though he had yet to hit a big score in the first 2 ashes tests, he'd only had 3 digs and one was a decent enough 36

Still averaging over 50 when he got dropped the first time. Strange

Part of it was his really bad form in the lead up games I believe.

A lot of Buttler's 'blinders' only look so because his footwork is so poor though. Smith loves to shell ones that come to him at a certain height.
