So if Burns gets to - what, 50? is Harris back into a quantifiably negative contribution for the series given he stuffed up that run out?

Australian ashes tours have been career death for so many opening batsmen

it's the tough(or at least, unfamilar) conditions combined some great bowling to deal with and a long, long series

10 innings of Burns and Hameed struggling to score will have their career end up the way of Carberry
Carbs a lot better than both imho

Phil Hughes very similar. Bowled right handed so I'm assuming he was right handed. Looked a million bucks playing offside shots and hopeless trying to work the ball to the legside
Hughes’ technique when he made the test side made it night impossible for him to play a leg side shot and easy for teams to tie him up in that area. He was still a work in progress when he passed away. Was working hard at going back and across to access the leg side.

I’ve little doubt he’d have made it back and succeeded. Just an enormous loss.

missed the last two hours, how’d green look? that’s a slightly weird looking score in the circumstances
Seriously out of nick. Almost exclusively faced putrid part time spin so it's hard to say he was tested much but he was batting with a needle for the mostpart.

Lyon is bowling too well to take a wicket here. Needs to bowl a pie for the batsmen to mess up punishing.

Just reading up on him now after a many years, it's really surprising he got dropped so quickly his very first run in the side. Hit 400+ runs in his debut 3 match series, and though he had yet to hit a big score in the first 2 ashes tests, he'd only had 3 digs and one was a decent enough 36

Still averaging over 50 when he got dropped the first time. Strange

So the Starc injury must be like the Flintoff one in 05. He was fine after, might be an issue for future for Starc though if it a back issue. Rest him after 3-0 after Melbourne I guess.

Yep, got talked out of the side by idiot commentators. Shown zero faith by the selectors. He shouldn't have been given the spot in the first place and then shouldn't have been dropped.

I played a couple of seasons in England years ago

Travelled all over and spent lots of time talking about ways of improving our games

Good fun but some crazy techniques came of it

Rory Burns is a product of that system
