Missed the whole day

Fantastic performances though especially in the last session. Pretty relentless right through. Well done Gnske

The 90s sides had more going for them than this lot.
Collectively, perhaps, but this XI has two world class players, and a quick who could be world class in time (Robinson). The 90s sides had nobody close to Root or Stokes. Thorpe the closest I’d say?

Had we played Anderson or Broad I’d vehemently disagree with you but the fact we’ve left them out makes it debatable I guess.

My first thought was that wpdavid is overreacting, so I picked out a random 90s XI and chose the '99 Boxing Day test, which they won. It's closer than I thought.

You're right that they have no batsmen within a million miles off Root and Stokes, but none of them are as bad as Malan or Hameed either. Hard to know what to make of the bowling, kind of comparing unknown quantities to known mediocrities. I'd take today's attack, but only because I really rate Robinson, and he's only played a few tests so I could be completely wrong about him.

Gough/Wood and Fraser/Robinson very similar in their MO. Not comparing their respective careers but more the style of bowlers they are.
Not sure about Fraser's record in Australia, but tall 'over the top' bowlers have had plenty of success over the years. Robinson looks extremely good and is very skillful

We've had storms here in Brisbane since 7pm. Another one ripping through now with heavy rain. We're about 30 mins north of the Gabba, but if they're getting the same rain we are, it might be a little damp underfoot tomorrow morning.

The thunder is ****ing loud! Joe Root would be scissoring his pillow as I type.

Appalling. Warnie has been absolutely hideous, won't let Isa get a word in. He's horrible. I hate him, he really shouldn't commentate. Howie has been a git, Gilly a typical Gen X weirdo.

All the comms are trash.
This commentary is worse than when Bangladesh plays Pakistan...

Caught up some hilights. Some of the shots Trav is playing are exactly the sort of shots he was getting crucified for playing before

Don't think Head will end up averaging 45+. He's far too loose outside the off stump, but will be worth his place in the team for the momentum changing counter-punch innings he's made a career out of for South Australia. Funny that the weakness of my team has probably played some part in fashioning the Head we saw yesterday. The number of time's he's in 3-down for nothing for SA with no batting behind him basically forces his hand in Shield matches.

Yep, that's cricket isn't it. Another day he nicks out for 5 or so, and people continue to argue his spot in the team. Good on him
