And not a lot of evidence that he's improving that side of the job. In other news, the latest evidence that Burns can't catch makes one wonder if we should pick an opener who is reliable in the slips, even if he does average about 20 with the bat. And, as we suspected, the decision not to play one of Broad and Anderson here must be one of the most brainless calls in the history of the game. One can only hope that, somehow, England are batting early enough on Day 3 for this wretched affair to be put out of its misery before Day 4.

So not a great scorecard to wake to though possibly better than I feared. Then I start watching Leach fall to pieces. But then of course I hear the comms including Warne start to float a declaration. At 290/6 on day 2.
Yeah this has deteriorated very rapidly in the last half hour. Actually looked salvageable not that long ago, then Root and Leach started bowling again
