The post here when Warne does something dickish/creepy thread

More dickish than creepy, but have to mention Warne's stubborn refusal to give Starc any credit for that first-ball wicket.
Definitely a bit dickish but I'm not sure he's wrong. It was literally a leg stump half-volley that any half-decent premier player would put away to the fence.

I could see the claim that it was a deliberate ploy aimed at a perceived weakness of Burns but tbh I think he just threw out a classic **** Starc ball and got extremely lucky

How many LH opening batsmen does that get out? All of them? Who's hitting a swinging leg stump yorker first ball of an Ashes series?

Got no idea whether it was deliberate. Cynic in me thinks it was luck too, but equally it could have been a pre-Test plan that Burns goes too far across early and might miss a straight one.

I haven't heard Warne but classic egotist behaviour - cannot bring himself to praise Starc and to ever retract on anything he's said in the past. Sign of a feeble man

Not denying it's dickish behaviour going on about it. That's undeniable. Also as I said could possibly have been a deliberate plan. But let's not pretend it was an unplayable swinging yorker, it was a textbook leg stump half volley that is usually the last ball you want to bowl to a new batsman

I was following online and sadly couldn't watch - what did he say, was he just putting it down to bad batting?

I'm not pretending, I genuinely don't think many LH openers hit that - especially first ball of a massively hyped tour. You're just not expecting something outside your right eye line as a LHer that swings back to hit leg. Much different if it angles down.

I've long believed the Ashes brings out the worst in everyone involved and Warne being Warne his worst is worse than other people.

it's a fast full one that's hitting the timber if it gets swing... which it did. plenty of times it does get clipped to the fence, probably because it doesn't straighten, but first ball of the match, that is 100% not the last ball Starc wants to bowl in that situation.

That's it for me and Warney. I've fallen out of love and I'm leaving him. To dump on a mate who had to make a call on a player's fitness and form in the higher obligation to his team shows him up as a ****. He's so dumb he didn't realise his bitching makes him look even worse in comparison.

Perhaps unwittingly Warne tries to emulate Keith Miller but always fails. A bowler who could bat a bit instead of an all rounder. A text pest instead of a ladies' man. A yobbo at the court instead of a charmer. A jungle celebrity instead of a serviceman. A mannequin of transplants and botox versus natural good looks. A confidant of bookmakers but not on the track. A **** house commentator ... well he has that in common.

At least when Miller had a spat with an iconic captain he retained his dignity. Warne in comparison shrinks without the help of diuretics. Which is another contrast with Miller. Miller took the piss while Warne had it taken from him.
Love this.

Oh, Justin Langer is such a twit.

The Australian Way. What cliched tripe. Australian cricketers have always sniped at each other (just like in other teams) - Bradman and O'Reilly, Hughes and Lillee/Marsh etc. It's called personality clashes. I never could stand him and Hayden - their twee parochialism and whiff of John Howard conservatism really got on my nerves. I hope he never gets anywhere near the Australian team as a coach.

tbf that’s not dickish or creepy in that if sayers is keen to bag warnie out online warnie gets right of reply there
He does, but typically Warnie takes the 'Alpha' approach. Belittling someone who everyone knows wasn't as good as him whilst looking like a dumb ****. Out of all the ways he could have replied, he takes the path that proves he might be an even bigger ****wit than he appears.
