When you know the umpires are firing batsmen left right and centre you have to be pretty sure. Bad luck for Young.Should have taken the review instantly. There was no point for a long discussion.

You dun know me15 seconds is such an arbitrary number for a game that takes ****ing forever to finish. Even men don't come that quick.
Debutant, the most Ethical man in India and a guy who's had neck problems throughout the game. Honestly win or lose the top 4/5 really need to be questioned a bit, especially the more senior players (cough Rahane cough). In general a day of questionable decision making (or lack of it) from NZ. India can be really happy about the fightback, though it took a debutant to save the batting lineup some blushes.
The ball tracking did surprise everyone as new ball was expected to skid rather than turn a mile. Leg stump was visible in Young's stride. Live it looked extremely close. Anyways whenever in doubt use the review especially considering how successful they were in this test. When you know the umpires are firing batsmen left right and centre you have to be pretty sure. Seems he told Bharat he undercut the ball too even though he actually didn't, which may have played a part in the discussion taking longer to take the review.I think Ashwin is quickly becoming my most hated player in world cricket right now. Such a punisher. His reaction after the DRS timer ran out is icing on the cake.
3 unsuccessful reviews per innings, which is enough imo.The review is obviously a crushing blow. I don't imagine Will Young, or potentially Tom Latham sleep much tonight. Question - are the 3 incorrect reviews across the innings, or 80 overs as they used to be?
I'm not going to be critical of a decision made in the heat of the moment, having fielded for 90 overs under fatigue etc etc. As a couch critic, I guess you could point to the fact that very few teams ever use their full reviews up - bowling or batting - and for the marginal ones, umpire's call ensures you keep the review anyway. Maybe a lesson going forward that you've just got to take it.
I'd move Pujara to opener and drop Gill, or otherwise drop Rahane.are they really going to remove iyer when kohli comes back...after this debut? especially when there are so many walking wickets in the top and middle order?
Drop Mayank. Gill has Management's backingI'd move Pujara to opener and drop Gill, or otherwise drop Rahane.
This is a sensible post.I find it hard to understand without hindsight how would we have gone into a test match without Ajaz and Sommerville. Past series in sub continent this is what we've done, play with both of them + Santner when available and it paid off. Obviously no one agrees Santner should be playing.
We could have gone with Wagner for Ravindra but then no one agrees Kyle should be batting at no.7 We'd have Southee at 8, Wagner at 9, Somerville at 10 and Ajaz at 11. What if we had to chase 200?
Just too many ifs and buts. I guess for Mumbai test we're definitely going with 3 seamers. And I guess Santner :-)
Yeah I've wondered this for a while. Kane clearly has plans but when those plans don't quite work he doesn't have a whole lot of innovation.Would like to see how Latham would have handled the bowlers here. He seemed quite impressive when he had to take over for games last season.
