Mate I will!Suggest you look him up. The best stumper i have ever seen and if my memory serves me correctly he was the first one to stand up to the stumps when Medium pacers were bowling.
"Unlike many of his peers or successors, Blackham was just as happy to stand up to the stumps to pace bowlers as he was to spinners" (says his Cricinfo page).Suggest you look him up. VIP clubs and ‘mystery blondes’: Imran Khan’s party years
As soon as we emerged from our lunch in Le Méridien Hotel Imran Khan was recognised. He was no longer leading Pakistan on the pitch and was yet to make his mark on politics, but Piccadilly in London was then his playground. It was the land of Tramp, the nightclub in St James’s frequented by the gliwww.thetimes.co.uk

How do you rate Hammond as a batsman?he was most likely the best player of spin that’s ever lived ,even bradman said so and we all know bradman and Hammond relationship and he was said to be by everyone the best player of spin of all time but that still doesn’t hide the fact he was far weaker against pace compared to his level of facing spin,Hammond averaged 35 against Wi but he did do really against ind which was said to have 2 good fast bowler. Is there any cricketer who was seen as being great (or factoring in secondary skills, good)in all 4 departments?
Sobers was a top tier ATG batsman and slip fielder, a very good fast bowler and best 5th option ever, but not seen as a great captain, though an aggressive and sporting one. But likey we base too much of this on just one example.
Imran was an ATG bowler, great captain, good batsman and best bowling all rounder ever, but even worst in the field than Sobers was as a captain and not even a candidate for the cordon.
Greg Chappell, Viv and Steve Smith didn't get enough wickets, Kallis was never a full time captain.
That leaves Bobby Simpson, possibly the most underrated player on CW and Hammond?
Simpson was an ATG opening batsman, in the running for the best slip fielder ever, was an effective leg spinner who averaged over a wicket per match, but didn't have the best record as captain, and don't know how he was perceived as one.
Similarity Hammond was a top tier or just below ATG batsman, similarly top tier slip fielder, effective if reluctant 5th bowler and good captain.
Who am I forgetting, and more pertinently who's the best?
He was troubled by genuine pace, especially shorter bowling, but he was still an ATG batsman, I may have have him in that absolute top tier, but he was undoubtedly one of the very best ever.
Hammond would possibly demolish the best spin attack of all time and he did destroy grimett ,in top 5 spin bowler of all time,I would say he would still average 52-53 odd in the modern game tbh because he would most likely destroy all the spinners in the world today in all types of wicket and he did avg ok for a Normal batsman against pace not as per his standard though and he may have done better against wi of his time which had ok pace attack avg 42 odd if he had played some more innings he did play 20 though because he did do really well against India which was said to have 2 good fast bowlers.
I will want to know stats of Hammond vs larwood in fc,to come to conclusion about Hammond vs pace tbh,if he did well against Harold I will consider him in below bradman tier ,in top tier batsman in the same league of hobbs, Richards, sobers, smith,Sachin, lara.

I have seen the thread of best test batsman ever by DoG which was really really good tbh,has there been any thread of best fc batsman ever ?cause I will like to know abt who finishes no.1 ,grace or the don.He was troubled by genuine pace, especially shorter bowling, but he was still an ATG batsman, I may have have him in that absolute top tier, but he was undoubtedly one of the very best ever.
