I find it pretty hard to believe this Australian side is in the final four tbh. Really don't rate the middle order at all. I suppose it'll just come down to whether they get a good start. If they do they'll beat anyone, but if we're like 2 or 3 for not many, there's no way the middle order is good enough to rescue the innings.

I think England would rather play Australia in the final than Pakistan if they get there. It feels like they've played them a million times in the last few years in white ball cricket and have learned how.

It's pretty hilarious that India has missed out though, after bigging themselves up in the lead up.

Form means something. England will rebound from their loss and win this. Pakistan should dump Australia. That said, I'm quietly hoping for a battle of the southern cross.

Whatever it takes!!!

The lower scoring grounds and pitches has helped you guys in that regard. And Warner and Finch hit form at just the right time. I think many of these sides would have struggled in 2016 type Indian pitches had that happened where even 200 would be just about par in few of the grounds. That test match seam attack, especially when bowling first, is what has made the difference AFAIC.

Yeah, they're always a shot at bowling a side out I suppose, it's just if they lose three wickets cheapish they're basically ****ed. I reckon they'd kill for an Andrew Symonds in the middle order right now.

Warner
Finch
MMarsh
Smith (floating)
Symonds
Maxwell

would be a loaded top six. As it is, Wade in there spuds it up with Maxwell being so inconsistent.

Then again I guess most sides would like Symonds in their middle order tbf.

I reckon you would prefer a Yuvraj Singh more as it gives you a left hander in there and a left arm spinner to boot. That is really the only thing missing there, instead of Smith/Stoinis. And having Smith as a fixer upper is a pretty defensive move tbh. In an ideal scenario, you wont have to play Smith at all. But he is as elite as it gets as far as insurance policy batsmen go.

EDIT - Basically Hazelwood unlocking his T20 bowling prowess (Thanks CSK :p ) has made this side from just being dangerous bananaskin to possible contenders. If you had someone better at 6/7 than Wade, and someone better than Smith for #5 (preferably a leftie) , you would almost have all the ingredients for a top class T20 side.

Tests, sure but you even got thrashed in the world cup where you fluked your way to a final

Interesting point actually. Is New Zealand the flukiest of teams at the moment? That world cup conspired to give a joke team an almost WC. Then the Test Championship was unable to stave off a New Zealand fluke fest with them getting to the championship basically on the back of everyone else having issues, rather than them stepping up to the plate. Of course, this does not bode well for England, and then Pakistan. Can't wait to see what happens for these two superior teams to somehow see New Zealand in the final.

what a very specific white ball game to focus on.

I'll give you a pass for this because Australia are the only team in any position to get snooty at NZ due to actually being able to back up the chat with performance.
