Let's try and move the matchday discussion away from the generic group threads I reckon. Nothing worse than coming into a forum with a bunch of catch-all, generalised superthreads with too many pages.

I think the Sri Lanka bowling might be too much for the bang-average Deshi batting order. 120 won't be an easy hurdle for them to cross.

The India/Pakistan is a potentially juicy affair. Are Pakistan any good at the pyjama stuff? Is this basically a rehearsal for the final? Will Ramiz Raza tweet something juicy if they lose? Will war break out either way?

What a time to be alive.

No pressure on Pak what with the low-profile buildup and all.

I'd play Kishan over Pandya if Pandya's not going to bowl. Kishan in better form atm.

Rohit
Kishan
Kohli
Suryakumar
Rahul
Pant
Jadeja
Thakur
Ashwin
Bumrah
Kumar

You're so wrong. Pakistan are so much under pressure that India can literally send their under 19 and Pak would crumble. I am not kidding.

The mental stumbling block against India in WC has gotten so bad over time that it is becoming extremely hard for pak to win even if they have matching ability. Expect Pakistan to crumble yet again despite having a decent side this time around.

heh I wasn't serious. Raja & various ex-players have not done their team any favors over the last month with their statements either. But it's T20 so Pakistan have a puncher's chance at least.

Whatever it takes!!!
Sri Lanka are my dark horse team for this tournament. India may well go in with only 5 bowlers and Kohli/Rohit as the 6th bowler option. If Pakistan can keep their smarts about them and not do a Bangladesh, they have a shot. But given the leadership in their country and the cricket board, I expect them to implode out of sheer hatred and jealousy.

Samiuddin has basically given up any pretense of being a somewhat unbiased cricket writer. His writing is neither cricket centric nor neutral in the last few months. And he used to be the best of the lot over there on crapinfo. Sad state of affairs. :(
Sambit Bal has destroyed ESPN CRICINFO. He only hires people who follows his ideology.

Osman is one of the best and would be hired anywhere tbf. This just seemed like an oddly OTT article/headline.
That is my point. He WAS all of that. He has not been that in the last few months. It seems like he is writing everything with a "Imran Khan Zindabad, India Murdabad" T-shirt or something.

To be fair, it might have been a sub-editor who came up with the headline. Although I can see why the article itself might also be someone's idea of parochial cheerleading as well.

yeah, it might well be that Osman is trying to put some life into tomorrow's match, since almost nobody thinks pakistan will win tomorrow. So some cheerleading might put some life into the contest going in (which will be snuffed out in the first 5 overs when pak crumble :p)
