Big effort by Brooksby to take the first set 6-1 against Djokovic, but it looks like normal service has since resumed.

I'm quite impressed by Berrettini again. He seems a really consistent player on all surfaces. He might not beat Djokovic this year, but he looks like a future Grand Slam winner.

Botic Van Whatever, does not say much for the men's game when a journeyman mug who lost to James Ward a few months ago is able to reach the quarter finals. This is a very kind draw for Medvedev to say the least.

Svitolina is a bottler.

Novak not great last night , Berrettini, Zverev and Medvedev left for him. That's going to be very difficult indeed.

Alcaraz had one and a half sets of producing nothing and retired with a thigh injury. A shame, but he had spent a hell of a lot of hours on court. Only 18 so hopefully he'll get stronger and be a genuine contender in the future.

And through she goes, the Olympic champion seen off in straight sets. We're really not used to this.
Cruised through qualifying which can be a landmine, massacred the inform Tormo and Rogers coming of a win v Barty and now handles a very inform Bencic despite a sluggish start quite easily.

Bookies will have Plskova/Sakkari fav v her in the semi final, but you'd be a brave man to lump on those 2 to beat Emma. Crazy.

wow, two teenagers in the semis...one against sabalenka and the other likely facing pliskova...

the men's section going pretty much as expected, berrettini about to get his ass kicked by djokovic for the 3rd straight major, zverev should get past harris comfortably...

This Raducanu is amazing, so good to see someone come in and play at a ridiculous level but look like they are enjoying it at the same time. Obviously the joy will vanish in time when the grind of being on tour and the disgusting British press get to her but for now we should just enjoy it. From unknown to arguably the biggest young star in the country in the space of a couple of months is some rise, hopefully the usual suspects don't try to knock her down at the first opportunity.

Despite all the comparatively big names in the last 16 the Ladies semis include an unlikely trio. I think if it wasn’t one of our own there would be a degree of skepticism at the standards with a qualifier in the last four. Hopefully tennis will come home and she can stop Raheem Sterling being Sports Personality of the Year. :tooth:

The Men’s draw has three of the top four seeds but still looks really dull.

would be great if we can get a raducanu v fernandez final but it will probably be sabalenka v sakkari...

Its all the Olympians who are favs for SPOTY btw. Raheem Sterling 33/1 or so with the bookies.

Standard WTA though, Barty won Wimbledon easily and then loses here to Shelby ****ing Rogers. Anyone who wins anything in the WTA last few years just can't build on it in Slams bar Osaka so we get randoms galore in the later rounds.

On the men side I'l take Novak v whoever in the final.

I don't think they will, not because they have developed some decency but I don't know if their is money in that sort of journalism anymore.

Regarding the tour, she will have some silly losses for sure, but the UK press don't follow tennis outside slams so that won't be an issue.

Murray possibly retiring next year will mean the focus won't be entirely on her when Wimbledon comes around which will help immensely.

Probably jinxing her, but this is utterly absurd. Sakkari has beaten Pliskova, Kitova and Andreescu before this and is getting murdered.
