Done!

Could you clarify one point for me please, cos I'm a bit slow today. You said CWC3 would start in one month but friendlies run into offseason. Well clearly we've got 8 weeks left given we've got the whole league left to run.
Yea CWC Season 2 will run till 24th July, plus one more week if we schedule finals/play-offs on our own. Season 3 will begin before that ends.

I figured we had so many new teams willing and eager to play we may as well try to start it ASAP.

Speaking of which - Jan hasn't replied to me yet. I'll wait till Monday/Tuesday and then maybe ask Jura CC.

Yeah, that's definitely fair, and it makes sense to have it start ASAP. But I think we should then schedule it ourselves, as a CW collective, to leave us open to...changing winds I guess @SillyCowCorner1 would say. It would be a shame to have a 13-14 team friendly league be attached to the CWC brand at this juncture.

I'll put up a draft by Sunday and people can respond as they like.

Commiserations to Mooo. You were up against a really good team with an experienced manager. Good effort in the field, and good IGT + experience for your team.

FHK got the job done last night. Won by 3 wickets, 18-year old Nathan Law hit 71 off 89 opening the batting. He's had some terrific knocks this season. Next highest was 28, but everyone chipped in a little and we won with 3.2 overs to spare against the 2nd place team. They outrated us too, so a really good effort.

Not enough to get us out of relegation zone tho. We're 4 points behind 5th and 8 points behind 6th. We can close that gap if we win our last two games and some results go our way, so let's see. Keep putting the best side possible out there and hope for the best!

Today's CWC2 games had 3 predictable results and one dramatic upset - Schmaltzberg beating Morpork by 5 wickets! Would love to hear @Magrat Garlick's thoughts on that game!

In other darby game news, ZCC Dev XI might actually beat FHK Dev XI today! ZCC scored 170/7 (Tudor 48 off 76 the top score) and now have FHK at 99/5 in 25 overs! Great effort away from home, which tbh suits their skillset a lot more than the Dom Dom Memorial CG pitch does. FHK will need to re-think their strategies and come back with a stronger set of orders tomorrow.

Well, it's certainly put a spanner in the works for the Dynamo chances of chasing Z0...uh...ZCC for the league title, so that's not great. What's even more surprising is that they did it without Owen, one of their strong bowlers, though his heart may be more for Morpork. The fast bowler Ndlovu always makes things happen, and then Morpork boys Ancell and Lickley out for revenge for the manager who was seen as relegating them to the country. On the bowling side, it really looked like Morpork were under the cosh when they fell to 69/4 after 11 overs, Van Heerdens enticing Powar to hit out or get out and then. However, a raging innings from the mercurial but suddenly furiously active Cpl B. Manning making the difference while the inimitable Buckland once again refused to go anywhere. On the Morpork side, they will be ruing Nat Judge's inaccurate wrist spin, which really got neither purchase nor carry on the Schmaltzberg wicket.

Game ratings:
Morpork: Mthabela 3, McGrath 7, Marita 1, Rowan 4, Long 4, Kotze 2, Van Heerdens 8, Judge 2, Clarke 4, Saleem 4, Fox* (c) 4
Schmaltzberg: Holding 5, Pewar 7, Kurusumuttu 4, Goonewardene 7, Hardy 0, Manning 10, Buckland 6, Payne 4, Ancell* (c) 8, Ndlovu 7, Lickley 7

Brilliant innings by Mannings.

The Schmaltzberg Mining Inc. Stadium pitch is a bit dry, but their bowling is reliant more on seam. Why is this the case? I reckon they'd be even more effective if there was more moisture, maybe a bit more pace.

Tim Chester spins his way to his first ever 5-fer as ZCC beat FHK by 31 runs! Nathan Law, the centurion from the last time these two Dev sides played, and coming off a match-winning knock in the OD game, was bowled by Abdul Younis for 33.

FHK will go back to the drawing board tonight and figure out a way to put on a stronger performance tomorrow.

We are transitioning into a spin bowling team with a couple of quicker guys. Payne (42 pot), Fazal (42 pot), McGill (38 pot with 39 bat pot), all potentially talented spinners. Will Scott, who didn't play today, might lead that charge.

Ahhh I see. ZCC is going the same route, but because the senior side is still seam-heavy the pitch tends has more moisture and pace on it.

Really stuffs up the Dev side though, which has two quality young spinners (45 and 46 pot) and a spin bowling batting AR (45 pot bat, 38 pot bowl + unorthodox action). I've tried micro managing the pitch condition so that it's dry for Dev games and Green for senior games but it's not easy. Forget to change the setting and you could screw your own team over!

Scott is a quality signing for 1K for a team like Schmaltzberg. Great value. In ZCC we're just going to hang onto Luke Giddings till the next gen is ready lol. Tim Chester being able to play the OD game yesterday is a big step forward. If I can reliably play 2 spinners and win games in senior cricket I can then commit our home turf towards being spin friendly.

If you guys looking for spinners then...

I don't think I will get a chance to afford him. Outside chance he goes cheap because its weekend?

One can always hope. How much can you afford?

Definitely a quality youngster, better than my current spin prospects, but not by enough to justify a bid.

I could probably go to $150 or $200 at a push. But it would wipe me out and not sure its worth it at this stage.

Currently just trying to be patient.

7 losses in a row now....

And MTO's are averaging 28 extras a match in games and probably a minimum of 3 dropped catches. And that is in low scoring games of generall under <180 runs per innings. Lots of that is having a wk with a skill of 1... and low batting ability. I need to show lots of patience!

Patience is key

Do you try to put your strongest XI out in Friendlies?
