Great bowling from seales.

Disappointing markram getting out when well set, was a good ball thought.
Elgar and kyle very loose.

Still miles ahead though. Bit depressing that we knew the result before tea on day 1 :(.

Credit where it's due though, that South Africa pace attack was relentless.

That is crazy. I watched his first spell and he bowled very well.
He has been groomed for a year or so now, spending time with the Test squad, also getting exposure at CPL. He has dominated warm up matches in COVID times that did not get FC status basically. So he is more ready than stats would have you believe.

The thing that has stood out in the last 3 red ball games I have seen him play is he is so relentless with his areas for a 19 year old. He is already far more consistent than Alzarri, for example.

QdK is tailor made for such situations but if Windies can get them for <200 then who knows? A 4th inning target of 150 can be tricky on a quick track with some inconsistent bounce.

Markram needs to stop doing this.

I desperately want Petersen and Verreynne to score runs early in career. Both to take some pressure of themselves and also to keep the (ignorant) public/media quiet.

Was Seales also the quickest of all bowlers save Nokia?
Was a strange one because he was only hitting 136kph ish on the speed gun, but he definitely looked the second quickest. He is usually a 135 to 145kph bowler so either he was bowling within himself (which is insanely impressive on debut) or there was something wrong with the speed gun).

Questionable fitness and diet, although he's not the only one and he also seems happy to give his away his wicket trying the dot.dot.boundary only routine.
Someone did point out that Pooran can;t get a test cap due to lack of FC cricket but Jayden goes straight in. They do have a point.

Is this on Youtube or am I going to have to find a small river?
I got radio on YouTube for the commentary - no visual of course
Plus decent highlights package the next day.
I got from searching 'West Indies cricket' - it was official stuff, not some third party persons

Random Windies relates thought/observation. Jason Holder has wasted the new ball pretty much every time he is given it in tests. I think I read yesterday that the stats back this up. We should stop that and give young Seales the ball if we get to bowl in the second innings with a target worthy of the name.

Just watched the short highlights. I haven't seen too many innings with more dismissals by ill-disciplined wafts that the West Indies'. Awful stuff.

Agreed, Holder could be given the new ball in ODI's but with Roach at the other end, letting Seales loose with the new ball with Holder as backup incase it goes pear shaped would be better.

Me on Jayden Seales:

Holder was better with the new in the second innings than in the first innings
