You are being really unfair here. That was more legit criticism before this season IMO. In this series at least, Virat has made it a point that they try and score more runs both in T20I and ODI cricket. Rahul was very self-centered today, as he usually can be now and then. And our bowling unit is not very good. Our obsession (read: Virat's obsession) with wrist spin has to end. You do not become a better spinner just because you bowl wrist spin. I wont mind Chahar getting a game but we also need a 6th bowling option if Hardik is not gonna bowl, and that is where you look at Washy to open instead of Dhawan.

EDIT: For example, last game, Virat got out trying a big shot as he realized they needed to score far quicker in overs 31-40.

Surely Kohli can't make him bowl out here? Needs pulling out the firing line. If Hardik can't bowl, get someone else to fill in for an over who won't feel like their career is going up in smoke if they get hit about.

Atleast this has made clear why kuldeep hasnt been getting picked even when ashwin and jadeja were injured. Something's gone seriously wrong for him.

England are doing India a favor here by showing them that these spinners suck as frontline bowling options. Either play with more bowling options if you need them in the side, or play better spinners. Its not like we lack good spin bowling options who can bat either. Sundar and Axar are more than handy for these formats and Chahar is at least new and has not been found out yet.

Maybe the old adage of class being permanent is true and we should just play Ash-Jaddu, as @ankitj has been pointing out.

He is still bowling mostly the same stuff, he is just found out. I never felt either Chahal or Kuldeep were long term bowlers for us, was just hoping they would do well enough to win the WC at least but it went pear shaped before that and we are gone.

To be fair, this is some excellent display of power hitting and batting here. And Stokes and Bairstow have done it to better bowlers than Kuldeep and Krunal. They have been awesome and it has been very fun to watch. even if India are losing.

Mostly because this is the series I least care about in this tour.

Cant think of a better ODI bowler with as bad an ODI average as Bhuvi. One of the prime examples for why ODI averages are pretty worthless.

3 of them were in the T20 format and Bhuvi has been dropped for others in tests and even ODIs. And I wont say any of them prospered. Bhuvi was already there before he took over, Chahar has basically done the Bhuvi role in the games he played and is used as a like for like. Shardul is Shardul and back in 2017 when he first came in, he could bowl 140+ regularly. Nattu has just come in and you can already see he is not a regular still. Pointing out exceptions simply proves the rule, which is that Virat has a boner for 140+ pace and wrist spin and has his usual adamant thing of not accepting when that is proven wrong.

To me, even more than tactics, the area where Rohit or Rahane score over Virat as a captain is in the fact that they are nimble enough to adjust their strategy or team calls when its shown they were wrong.
