Most elegant batsmen/bowlers?

starc is one of those blokes who makes one really hard thing look incredibly casual

wouldn't even describe him as a great athlete since he's not an ace in the field like a few other bowlers with easy going actions, but they're all 10kph slower than him too.

Engle

State Vice-Captain
An apt description of Zaheer Abbas batting on CI :

" There was not a touch of arrogance about Zaheer's batting but of lyrical, fluent movement, his innings memorable for a refined, effortless beauty. His strength was precision and timing. He had the ability to go on back and front foot with equal facility, on occasions moving from backward to forward or vice versa during the course of one stroke and yet send the ball crashing to the fence. A high back-lift gave him a touch of elegance, and combined with powerful and supple wrists guiding the ball into the gaps on both sides of the wicket, he scored a very high proportion of his runs in boundaries. When the going was good, he seemed like a maestro at work, his artistry, his elegance leaving connoisseurs awestruck. "

And of Michael Holding bowling :

It began intimidatingly far away. He turned, and began the most elegant long-striding run of them all, feet kissing the turf silently, his head turning gently and ever so slightly from side to side, rhythmically, like that of a cobra hypnotising its prey. Good batsmen tended not to watch him all the way lest they became mesmerised. To the umpires he was malevolent stealth personified so they christened him Whispering Death "

Probably does't compare to some on this list but I always thought Marcus Trescothick could be pretty good to watch when he was going well. My half-baked theory is that having no/minimal footwork makes batting look more attractive

Cricketer Of The Year
Difficult to pick just two.

Sachin and Lara for me in batting elegantly
Loved Warne's bowling action

Debashis Mohanty an outside pick. His bowling style was even copied in a wc logo ?

The lofted cover drives are so mint. And the flicks through midwicket from balls wide of off. His pull shot is dog ugly though.
Yeah especially when he falls away to the off after playing the pull. Love everything else about his batting. Wouldn't say classically beautiful but its certainly not boring like Cook/Trott

Whatever it takes!!!

To me, it is not boring, it is not ***y, it is not elegant and it is not ugly. It is somewhere between all 4, but what it is, is incredibly efficient. He seems to move his feet, hands, bat everything just enough to get him the results he needs. No more, no less. The one who was closest was Sachin in ODIs at least till the 40th over but I think Smith's has been better in that respect.
