2020/21 New Zealand Domestic Season

sears is fine. getting injured is what bowlers under 25 do, and after that you find out your body can either handle it or it can't.

ferguson and kuggs aren't even close to big dudes either. it's always the rambo bowlers like bennett and watson who are most injury prone. skinny whippets like anderson and martin are invincible.

sears is also quite young. guys his height are often gangly praying mantises in their early 20s, even non-contact sport athletes.
Yes, but they are physically stronger. The frame they have developed through resistance training allows them to absorb stress and keep on absorbing stress for longer periods than the likes of an adam milne, mark wood, mitchell starc, early pat cummins.

About watson, bennett, anderson (I'm guessing you mean james?) and martin...they are are not and they never were out n out 140+......but the one guy who can help your argument is someone like steyn. Skinny and whippy, but he managed to play the amount of cricket he did due to excellent management (being rested for jam stuff), due to him being very skillful in other departments such as accuracy and swing; allowing him to pick and choose when to go express. And also due to just him holding himself back and bowling quicker later in the day as opposed to beginning of the day.

I really think now is a good time for sears to do some lifting and initiate damage control/preservation. But he's busy being Harvey Specter so I doubt that will happen. That's why I want him called up to the NZ squad/camps asap. When he finally gets access to the Chris Donaldsons', world class facilities and fellow peers in boult, lockie etc etc, he will learn invaluable things.

Sears is supposedly one of the fittest in the side. The niggles keep him sidelined every now and then. Part and parcel of bowling quick I suppose. Every domestic cricketer hits the gym unless you are Ross Taylor. There are no exceptions to working out in the gym. Every side has trainers, the professional players work at least 3-4 times in the gym during season and off season as well. It's a given. Firebirds have one of the very best trainer in the country.

That said the professional cricketers don't hit the gym like we do i.e. work to look good :D Lot of HIIT, snatches, dead lifts and leg presses. No full day biceps curls work out

Last round of ford trophy coming up. Canterbury are through I think but all to play for for Otago, Wellington, ND and Auckland. There was live video before but for all important match day there are just highlights.. why oh why? Good day to watch a bit of cricket at basin.

Duff's bowling so well.. beat Blundell like 4 times in a row. Lovely length and moving the ball away quite nicely. Shame he has only featured in one game for Black Caps so far. I think his best format is one day cricket.

Allen still playing lot of premeditated shots. I think he's better than that. Not sure why he moves around the crease so much in one dayers. If he stays still, watches the ball and play normal cricket he'll score plenty at good rate. He just needs to understand scoring 30s and 40s in one day doesn't make him a match winner unlike it does in a t20. The problem with being a super star in t20 is it affects other formats unless you bat with the same technique in all formats which he isn't at the moment. Hope firebirds have not told him to go after it and get quick runs. He's a very good player of spin as well so longer he stays at the crease he has better chance of scoring big and winning games.

Oh he's definitely fit, no doubt. Just saying his current frame/mass breaks under stress easier. You can be the best marathon runner in the world but you'll definitely feel a punch to the gut more than a guy with some solid muscle on him. In a sense, sears has a ferrari engine but the build/cover casing of a toyota camry. I really say this over and over because I love the energy and ability he could bring....I really really want this guy to become something massive for us. It needs to be made a priority that he finds ways to become more durable. He's got impressive domestic numbers already so its not like the potential isn't there. The struggle is durability.

Allen has gotten away this game, there were couple of drop catches by Otago. They have themselves to blame. Allen fast approaching a hundred, hope it's a big hundy. That'll speed up his selection to Black Caps surely.

Obviously you know he's one of my favorites but he was all over the shop early on. One of those lucky days you get away. After like first 20 odd balls he's middled everything. It's going to be be a 48 ball 100 by the looks of it haha

Firebirds need to win this by a big margin to make to the play offs. The net run rate is not all that great. If we can get 350+ and win by say 50-100 runs we can make the play offs.

Assuming Auckland win, if not Wellington just need a win.

If Wellington win that big they'll also get bonus points.

That's a six over cover to bring up the 100... this is like Jesse Ryder playing domestic cricket. Hope he gets a double here... that'll finally make our black caps selectors pick him vs Bangladesh.
