30 Test hundreds

Why dont you think he will be someone who plays on for years to come?
Not like he is someone the IPL ect are going to be throwing money at like they did with mccullum gayle or de villiers
Just the grind of England's international schedule. He started playing Tests relatively young, was handed the captaincy relatively young, has had back troubles since his mid twenties at least, has a young family at home. I think he'll feel the pressure of captaincy especially - England captains don't typically have the longest stints and he could already break the record for most Tests as England captain this year.

Joe is my favourite England player. This is a big year for his career. Needs to get some big runs to keep is personal records looking good. A few years ago he averaged 52 and now it’s down to 47. 47 is still the highest England average in the last 50 years. But I really hoped he would be englands first man to average 50. Every other country has someone who averages over 50 with the bat and under 25 with he ball. It’s so annoying for us england fans.

Fair enough, I think buttler may take over after the ashes and joe to continue as just a batsman

So, from the start of the thread in 2011 - looks like both Jayswardene and Sangakara got it as predicted first few pages. But only other to do it is Chanderpaul. No mention at all of Chandrrs before I stopped stabbing through.

Younis Khan got there too. So did Cook.

Lots of guys that looked likely at various points that didn't though (Smith, Clarke, KP, Amla, de Villiers)

Yeah, he bats at 6-7. It shouldn't be his job to get 20 test centuries and specialist batsmen who bat in those positions don't get close let alone wicketkeepers. As long as he averages early 40s while continuing to play crucial innings once in a while, India will be very, very happy.

Gonna be fun to watch if he gets them

Just whipping through threads catching up on Cricket Chat and nearly choked on my asparagus at the mention of Rory Burns reaching 30 Test Centuries. I'd be surprised if he makes 6.

The flip side of this thread is the batsmen who've scored 100 Test thirties; a slightly easier feat achieved by 20 batsmen, including all but one of those who made 30 hundreds, and also some (like Alec Stewart and VVS Laxman) who got nowhere near.
Weirdly, each of those 20 batsmen scored a different number of 30s, including every number from 100 to 108. Inzamam-ul-Haq ended on 99.
