Tuition Class app ( Online )I don't exactly know what Byjus is, but it sounds like a savoury snack you'd have ahead of a main dish.
iirc Steve Waugh said he regretted not sending the West Indies on the 2nd Test of their 1999 Test tour after bowling them out for 51 in the Test.I wonder whether Paine wishes he'd bowled first in Melbourne, off the back of the 36ao. Hindsight being 20:20 and all.

But if they hadn't done well, you would never have brought out this line of reasoning "oh how come they didn't do well, they were fresh"A compelling argument.
I wasn't suggesting simply being fresh in the 4th test gave the replacements an advantage that = them automatically being better than the guys they replaced or the bowlers in the Australian team, but they were fresh and they played very well, which helped India cement the series. Pretty much all of the players India brought in throughout the series as replacements did an outstanding job. You'd usually expect it to be a 50/50 proposition, but they were all standouts. Lyon and Starc were poor all series, which didn't help Australia's cause.
As for the batting down to 8, I know Jadeja and Ashwin bat well, but India lost nothing in this game by having Sundar and Thakur there. Again, I'm not suggesting those two would play at that level for as long as Jadeja and Ashwin have, but they were very good in this test.
Ruthless and acting out aren't the same, yes.You do have to be ruthless to be a good cricket side.
That means that, if you're near or just after a milestone when batting, you don't lose concentration and throw your wicket away. That means that if you're 2/190 or 3/230, you actually put up that 400+ score that gets you on the glideslope to winning in Aus conditions. That means that, when you have a side 5-down or 6-down, you finish the job and secure that victory or first innings lead.
This team could do with a lot more ruthlessness. The fact that they act out when put under pressure instead of playing better cricket is the opposite of ruthless, really.
well yeah, you see something happen and then find reasons for it. Being fresh isn’t a guarantee of performance, just that you won’t be carrying injuries or enduring fatigue that will inhibit it.But if they hadn't done well, you would never have brought out this line of reasoning "oh how come they didn't do well, they were fresh"
It's pure post facto reasoning
No, because I'm not explicitly tying them being fresh to them playing well. It's only adds a slight advantage if they step up and do the job, but it's not a guarantee in and of itself of someone performing well. If they didn't play well, it's probably because they are not up to it and never will be, fresh or not. The advantage they had was they weren't going to blow out at any time in the test due to the miles they had in their legs, but again, this only becomes an advantage if you're playing well enough to warrant your position in the team. The fact they played well is a credit to themselves. Being fresh at the end of a series doesn't mean you just turn up and run rings around other players who may have been a little more fatigued. Going into a game not fatigued means you are in the best place you can be when it comes to your performance, but if you think I suggested this is the only factor in their success, maybe go back and read the original post. You only quoted one line, so maybe you missed something. But if they hadn't done well, you would never have brought out this line of reasoning "oh how come they didn't do well, they were fresh"

When you score low you seldom get dropped when you score medium you sometimes get dropped when you score high ..............Fair enough, I must have got confused with the 1248911 other times he was dropped in the series. The drop was an absolute sitter though
I dont think it was any lack of resolve or hunger on the part of Australia but they did seem a bit caught unawares by the fight this side posed and it can kinda spiral downwards from there. But if you look at how Smith and Labu batted in the last two tests, Warner in the last innings, even Harris for a little while, Green at Sydney with his declaration batting, there were a lot of times when they fought back and played really well.A factor that I thought was evident in the way the Indian side played was a hunger to perform. A desire to stay in the game at all moments. The veterans dug deep, the rookies played beyond themselves, and they all played through the various physical and emotional struggles they had to endure during the tour.
It would have been easy for them to just mentally check out at various points of this tour, and completely understandable too, but they refused to go away. Remarkable spirit. That's something Aus did not have.
Which is why Australia will win the next series, in India.Good always overcome evil.
