This could very well be a quote from Shakespeare.Yeah, I am glad Lyon didn't apologise. You can't apologise to someone for the way you are inherently. That questions your very existence.

It was actually really amusing. Ponting kept saying that for Pujara the joy of batting was all in the block. My one regret about yesterday is that I wasn't watched the C7 coverage and couldn't see Ponting slowly melting down through the day about Pujara.
WTF is wrong with it, even if that was the case? Blocking a good ball or a spell out is as satisfying as anything IMO, in test cricket.Ponting kept saying that for Pujara the joy of batting was all in the block.
I really don't see how a guy as smart as Ponting doesn't get 'it' about Pujara. Especially after the last 3 series that India has won against Australia with Pujara as the highest runscorer for India and playing match winning knocks in all 3, in that style. It was actually really amusing. Ponting kept saying that for Pujara the joy of batting was all in the block.
***iest shot in cricket tbh.It was actually really amusing. Ponting kept saying that for Pujara the joy of batting was all in the block.
To be fair, when you've achieved what Ponting has in the game, you can understand having very firm and very fixed views on the game and how it should be played tactically. There's some weird inconsistencies between Ponting the captain and Ponting the commentator, mostly to the latter's benefit, but that one aspect is absolutely consistent across the two.I really don't see how a guy as smart as Ponting doesn't get 'it' about Pujara. He was a more than moderate upgrade on Ashwin in Sydney tbfAshwin saw it as so much beneath him that he deputised an IPLwallah to do the job for him.
Yeah, that makes sense. To be fair, when you've achieved what Ponting has in the game, you can understand having very firm and very fixed views on the game and how it should be played tactically. Makes sense, after all literally an India A side has beaten a full strength Australian side.ftr, the previous win in aus didn't mean this much
nowhere close
Thank godProbably needed someone like Dravid for that I guess but he's got other responsibilities.
Fair enough, I must have got confused with the 1248911 other times he was dropped in the series. The drop was an absolute sitter thoughAll those drops? You have been taken in by commentary embellishment.
A nick fell short of second slip and Hussy counted it.
He was only dropped once in his century.
Where are you going to watch the innings again from? Link please!Congrats to all fellow indians here. Going to be spending 1 whole day watching that innings again and read back as much of this thread as I can. We will remember this series similarly to the 2005 ashes while from an indian pov this is up there with Eden gardens. A few ghosts were exorcised too at least personally where I kept expecting it to go pear shaped like the chennai test against pakistan and the Sydney match where Clarke of all people denied us a win. Commiserations to the aussies but I expect them to beat saf.
This looks like a paid ad by BYJU tbh. I know sponsorships are important but their name doesn't have to be plastered everywhere.
Personal tastes. Ian Chappell disliked Dravid a lot, especially when he took long time to get off the mark in Melbourne back in 2007/08, it made him question Dravid's mental state literally. He disliked Boycott too and mocked his batting.WTF is wrong with it, even if that was the case? Blocking a good ball or a spell out is as satisfying as anything IMO, in test cricket.
Yeah Ponting was fuming and his co-commentator (Brayshaw I think) had to try and neutralise the heat. Think Ponting realised how bad it sounded and promptly followed up by praising Pujara for being tough and taking those blows without flinching.Yeah, that makes sense.
For the sake of the broader audience, I really would have liked some pushback on the dominant narrative pushed about Pujara's batting in basically all of cricket commentary coverage from Ponting to Manjrekar.
Probably needed someone like Dravid for that I guess but he's got other responsibilities.
Indian batsmen didn't make big hundreds either. Unlike Australia though our batting didn't depend on just 2 batsmen.Yes, this is where Aus batting lost the plot. The likes of Smith or Labu failed to make the really big 100s even after getting set or making 100s even. They just couldn't get a total which would allow their bowlers to relax a bit and get the services of the sixth bowler, namely Scoreboard Pressure.
