3rd Test at the SCG, Sydney, 7 Jan - 11 Jan 2021

Not Terrible
Even Pant going max aggression only saw them get around the RRR, rather than get over it. Surviving another 50 overs is gonna be difficult.
The Pant/Pujara partnership was around 150 runs in 35 overs, they don't even need to score that quickly to win.

A lot of "that's the way he plays" type chat and yeah it was superb knock but he needed to rein it in a little. I wouldn't blame him much for that as assume he was following orders from management. Lets not forget he is a kid who was dropped not long ago.
No blame at all. Not like he was unaware of the criticisms leveled at him. To come out and play the way he did, with a sore elbow...sheesh can't even fathom the amount of cool and character needed.

So you feel that pant should have suddenly reigned himself in? It was a stupid shot to play and Pant was sent out there ahead of viharu for a reason, India wanted him to play his game and push for a win, and he did exactly that. Don't think you can really fault him there for getting out.

Weird match thread this, didn't devolve into talking about whether or not Starc/others are handsome. People seem focused on the game. Don't like it
Hapless Australia playing down to the standards of ‘second string India away’ level gets people going for some reason

That's fair, he batted superbly, but he did seem to be getting a little to cavalier before he got. Its a minor criticism to be fair, but this is the internet!:D

not at all, he should have batted the same way he did before lunch. there's a difference between controlled aggression and outright slogging, and what he did in the three or four overs he faced before getting dismissed was slogging.
