Kippax's Firebirds and Wellington Club Cricket Thread

Mycock got no action today. Nobody did.

Instead we'll all hark back fondly to 2014, with an ND cretin pouring his beer on the ball (1:20 in), and yet that act actually helped the Firebirds to break a title drought.

Better weather in Dunedin for their club cricket.

Hutt District takes in plenty of imports, so I'll be lobbying behind the scenes to make sure it's Mycock/Cumming next summer.

Oh wow Curtis Millard got a run as the fifth bowler for Burnside West's top team today. A lousy 1/19 off 6. Back to treating him mean to keep him keen.

Two warm-up T20s at the Basin today. The last year's quickfire quadrangular Premier League format has changed into two teams playing five games, the fifth in early February.

Taita's Patrick Smith didn't actually look as far below all the Ross ter Braaks etc. active in current Ford Trophy play as the scorecard suggests. A relaxed Blundell was laying on some pretty dreamy T20 batting.

Not a very even dispersion of the talent to create closer games.

One day finals today at Basin Johnsonville vs Taita.

Some good players to watch out for, Raki Weerasundara, Severin, Greenwood, the Wellington U19 champion from last year Vishvaka, Henry Walsh etc... Don't think anyone can break into the current firebirds side despite very good performance but of late Greenwood has been very very good from what I can see. He was named in the firebirds squad couple of weeks ago.

Looked like I overrated many players above as usual I do with you and coming cricketers. Johnsonville scored all of 110 runs in 40 overs.

The game was live on youtube? Never realized that... I saw few highlight clips on crichq. Johnsonville lads out to some average shots.

At least I wasn't wrong about one player, Henry Walsh. The former firebirds player has been in very good touch last couple of summers. He's still got a chance to make a career yet.

Would be good see Walsh back for Wellington in the Super Smash. He seemed quite promising about 5 or 6 years ago.

Well not for a while, especially now that Bhula and Johnson are tonning up (or nearly) at a slightly diluted Ford Trophy sort of level. Vishvaka yet to get into that internal Cuba Kings vs. Mt Vic Vikings they play. The names on those cards further up will probably be the next ones called up, Nick Greenwood and the like.

There were 3 teams last year from memory. We don't have enough players for 3 teams now?
