3rd Test at the SCG, Sydney, 7 Jan - 11 Jan 2021

Wouldn't mind if Saini keeps his spot for the next test to be honest.
Looks fit and bowls at a decent pace. He is also replacing a guy that averages 40+ away from home with the ball and if you judge him against that level of performance, he is doing alright. India have depth.

Crazy how Green hasn't picked up a wicket yet, having bowled pretty tight lines all series, whereas Saini has basically had at least one pressure release ball each over, and has picked up a handful this test.

Based on the one-dayers T Natarajan looked like he had more of a potential to consistently bowl to a plan.

Australians are so high iq and adapted to test cricket that they can't handle village deliveries.

Wade to have his farewell test at the Gabba.

Is Renshaw an option after that as he's re-invented himself as a #5 averaging 92.00 this season for Qld

Pucovski at 5 and Khawaja opening.

Renshaw hasn't done nearly enough to have proven the transition to the middle order has worked.

I'd be looking at Maddinson first. Renshaw really only has arrested his form slump in the last 12 months or so.

It is an issue, I don't see Head or Wade getting runs in South Africa, but alternatives aren't clear. They'll still be wary of Renshaw, especially in a series where the ball will probably move consistently, Patterson is out of form and thanks to Harris and Pucovski Maddinson has barely had a hit.

For context though, "this season" has been three games and he literally has just one score over 50, in an innings where two other blokes also scored tons.

I like Renshaw and I think he'll play international cricket again but picking a bloke who spent two seasons batting with a needle to the point of getting dropped because he dropped down the order and made one score would be pretty ridiculous.
