Big news. But probably the correct decision. And it appears that everyone is at least talking to each other now.

I don't think I appreciated just how vast FC cricket was in SA with the provincial system. 75 players is more than what plays the full round of Shield cricket.

Dave Richardson would have left no stone unturned.

I'm fine with it but I just hope that we get some Kolpaks back and they relax quotas to 4 per team minimum again. Let that bounce up to 5/6 naturally especially with most coaches not even "white"

Also , how they will pick the extra 2 teams will be interesting and then 16 x 8 & 11 x 7 for contracting.

How will they determine which teams start in section A and which start in B?
I am ok with the plan. Kolpaks will be interesting. Will either side put their ego's aside?

I hope they do. No matter what the personal feelings are with regards to players like Abbot,Harmer etc, they will lift up the standards of the competition. That's ultimately what we need.

Rasimione

U19 Captain
I'm happy with the new set up. Places like Border, Boland and the North West will start producing players again.

I think the tension was more between the Kolpaks and CSA rather than the franchises. So there might not be too many issues with them playing in South Africa. Playing for South Africa is perhaps where the question lies.

From the Cricinfo article.

The divisional split will be decided by a bidding system.

First time they played in Currie Cup

Northern Cape (1889/90 as Kimberley then Griqualand West)
Border (1903/04)
Easterns (1937/38 as NE TVL or 1991/92)
Boland (1980/81 in B Division)
North West (1991/92 as Western Transvaal)
SWD

Squads have to be picked by today/tomorrow for Momentum One-Day Cup.

17 year-old Andile Simelane is in the Dolphins squad. All-rounder. Bowls faaaast and bats 4 for Dolphins Cubs.

Who's the Kolpak? Could we see a KA return??
He isn't giving names at this stage but you would imagine with previous connections maybe Cam Delport, Dane Vilas or Kyle Abbott.

Dave Miller is of course playing.

They preparing to be without Dupavillon who has been told he is going to Pakistan. Supposedly there is another surprise but with his Knights connection it could be from there but I'm pretty sure it is the Dolphins. I said Sen Muthusamy but he couldn't say.

I honestly think they are going to take Muthusamy. With Covid-19 and the extended squad it makes sense to have him as an allrounder back up. Especially if it's the subcontinent.
