Blargh, c'mon guys, enough patting the ball about. They really should be looking to declare in an hour's time.

Reckon we'll do the usual thing of batting past the point where everyone wants the declaration, bashing a few more runs after tea, before winning on day 5 anyway.

he's a touch player but i like watching kane in meathead mode. it's like watching a faithful labrador, after a morning of playing fetch with small children, chase down and savage a wild turkey or goat.

One thing I'm surprised about re the Bay Oval is the lack of shade. I imagine there's quite a few people with sun-stroke by the end of a day's play. Would look even nicer as a ground if they planted trees.
Still young ground, pohutakawas planted.

I think the ground is ugly. But when trees mature ot woll be adequate. Currently grass banks and back drops of corrugated iron .

Tauranga Domain No.2 would have been better option to develop. But, is done. When trees grow it will look alright except from drone cameras.

I’ll never understand the mad desperation to invite opposing teams to win an undeserved away test when we just have to bowl competently to win the ‘conservative’ way anyway, but I guess it’s one of those intractable cricketing philosophy questions

Would probably agree , except WtC points need to be banked.

With the way NZ are batting, KW's cleary targetting a pre-tea declaration. Reckon NZ will bat for 15 more minutes and then declare.

Some good sacrificial batting right now

Another 40 rather quickly would be nice then we have 4 and a half sessions to really get into them.

urgh its good to be selfless but this is some solid stats nerfing and padding. as long as there's no 'vIrAt k0hLi hAs tEsT t0N iN nZ' material i guess.

I know there's been quite a few wickets, but 15 overs in an hour and 25 minutes is worthy of a thorough review by the match ref.

I think that was always the most sensible timing, though generally expect Williamson to be more cautious.

One of these days there'll be a troll chase of 400 on a flat NZ wicket that only gets flatter, but I don't think this is the one. Difficult to force the pace unless NZ bowl very poorly.
