Jadeja's batting improvement since his early days is incredible. Anyone remember that hilarious 5 ball innings in SA where he couldve got out the first 3 balls, smashed a six and then holed out? Looked like a hackfraud for the ages.

I remember making a post early in his Test career that he might've been pressuring Ashwin's spot for away Tests if he'd managed to actually look like he was good enough bat eight. I was questioning his ability to bat eight at the time. I definitely expected him to get better given his First Class record - long term I knew there was a decent #8 in there at least - but he seems like a totally different player now.

I love how his approach has come full circle too. In his first few Tests he tried to play like a proper batsman but found the standard to be way out his depth, so resorted to effectively enginerooming with troll/hack runs so he could at least add runs at #8 or #9. After he more or less perfected this art he gradually normalised and tempered his approach with the scoring options he developed in hack mode, and now he successfully bats reasonable properly afterall. It's really such an unconventional way to develop a technique too - learn where your scoring options are by hacking for a while, then develop a defensive game afterwards.
