they should definitely have been more positive early on. Burns being on his cricketing deathbed and Wade opening for the first time nws, the pitch map after the first dozen overs showed all of one ball would have hit the stumps. I’m no hacker for #intent, but you have to make some effort to score. All they did was let a good attack settle into its areas
I am a hacker for #intent, and you are definitely onto something. Really missed Warner punching those balls through cover-point for 4 instead of leaving them.

Your boi Ben Horne with the goods.

As close contacts of noted quarantine-denier Mitchell Starc, the entire Australian team must quarantine immediately and be replaced by the best fo South Australian grade. It's the only way.
he's got a direct line with the ceo imo

And yeah I don't mind bringing in Lalor. The two stints I've heard have been infinitely more interesting than, well, anything else provided by a non-Ponting commentator.

for real, I think it isn't the worst idea. better than slater talking about bon jovi anyway
At least Slater has energy when Bon Jovi comes up on the frenulum. Hearing Lalor for the first time, it was like he was 0.75 speed and was taking nangs in between sentences.

Haha who was it? Mark Waugh?
Mark Waugh was on comms, but it came from Allan Border I think.

EDIT: Oddly Waugh actually talked against it, feeling Australia were too far behind to risk it. I've oddly had little complaints with Maugh this Test.

My IPL-specialist casual Indian cricket fan friends are already dissing this performance calling this the worst side in Australia's history. How infuriating! :censored:

Wait Peter Lalor's on comms on 7?
Doing v occasional stints as like a special analyst or something. Basically amounts to "what are your texts to CA middle management saying ****?" or dictating an upcoming longread on Umesh Yadav's childhood.

It's a nice change of pace tbh

They do a thing when he slides into the commentary for an over or two to talk about the Big Stories. I think it could be good when there's a story that the commentators are clearly out of their depth on (which is basically any story). On both days it's been with Tim Lane but I suspect it would work better if Alison Mitchell was the other half of the conversation
